I can. Pretty easy to see how people who buy expensive cars that they can't afford would resort to Uber driving to pay they car note.

I'm not sure Uber can be of much help when your car payment is $1500, but the larger issue is the stupidity of driving a car that expensive as a taxi. But a used Prius for <$10k and knock yourself out.

the problem with stupid people is that they don't realize they're stupid. that's what makes them stupid.

as someone who has experienced full-blown mania, I'm thinking that this isn't mania, but more of a midlife crisis kind of situation

I guess possibly a bout of hypomania accompanying a midlife crisis

also I don't think doctors diagnose mid-life crises

so I'm gonna go with no

even though your question (w/o a question mark) was clearly sardonically hypothetical

I got picked up in a tesla a couple years ago after ordering an UberX. The guy explained he was a driver for a new startup called Drivr, which was basically a green version of Uber. The Teslas were all part of the company's fleet, not driver-owned. He said they were piggybacking off Uber to gain traction in the market. Not sure if it ever took off, but I haven't heard about it since then.

Fun exercise: rank these events by how much they actually happened.

1) Smath was at a 21 year old's apartment
2) The uber was a Tesla
3) He asked her to grab a beer
4) She accepted

My guess is none of this happened at all.

Well 2) almost certainly happened.

I mean there's a slight chance that he made up the same name as the woman who actually drives a tesla for uber.

And also made up the ridiculous idea that some idiot would drive a Tesla for Uber.

^^ That's true only if the events are independent, otherwise here is the general formula:

P(XandY)=P(X|Y)·P(Y)

or equally

P(XandY)=P(Y|X)·P(X)

"So sure, the car cost about $70,000. And it had to have its drive unit replaced a few times.

But between that anticipated decrease in maintenance cost compared to a conventional gas car, and the fact that Christian has only spent about $3,700 over 2.5 years in electricity (versus about $5,000 a year in gas charges, according to Electrek) to charge his car from his home over 100,000 miles, "

so he paid $50k more to save $9k. brilliant!
