Put my preorder in at Gamestop. I'm fifth in line and they said they're getting 34 units on launch day, so pretty happy about that

I may have misunderstood a video that I saw, but will local multiplayer require separate Switch systems?

Probably depends on the game, but I wouldn't expect it for most Nintendo games. Mario Kart 8 was being played with only one system. I'd expect the same for Bomberman and any eventual Smash and Mario Party games. Now for Pokémon I'd expect you to need two systems.

It has shown a few games with split screen so that leads me to believe that you won't need multiple switches for it.

Honestly I'm a little underwhelmed. Yes, Breath of the Wild looks absolutely incredible, but outside of that the Switch launch lineup is very weak. Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey look great, and Wii Boxing 2 looks decent but it will be a while until they come out. 1 2 Switch looks fun for parties but it just seems like an updated Wii Sports that may lose its fun quickly. I can't justify spending $300 dollar bucks on a new console just for Zelda when I can get the same game for my perfectly capable WiiU on the same day. I will get the Switch at some point, but I'm gonna wait until it has some more games backing it.

Lol the fact that there might be some improved story telling and that you might get to see Zelda more than 3 times the entire game had me about as pumped as anything else.

Though the fact that it seems she'll be a companion for some of the time leads me to dread the eventual escort/protect the dumb AI missions.

Zelda does look like the tits though. I recently watched a video where it was just a compilation of all the people sucking at playing the demo and it looks amazing.

Not exactly thrilling info here. Makes me wonder if I'm not better off waiting for Switch 2.0 or whatever second iteration nintendo will release like they did with the DS systems.

^Battery life seems kind iffy. They are marketing this thing to be fully portable, but with only a three hour battery life, and no way to change out batteries or charge it from a portable charger, that is kinda counter-intuitive. I almost guarantee this will be addressed in the New Switch XL Thin 2.0 that will come out in a year or so though.

I got a chance to play 1-2 Switch at work today.

It was the bomb. For real. So fun. Its definitely worth 40 dollars (preorder on amazon to get it for 40).

AS amazing a party game as Wii sports was.

Serious question, So I know that my Switch will be delivered tommorow, but UPS varies wildly in its deliver time. Sometimes they will get to my house about 12;30. Usually by 2, but sometimes around 345. Is there a way to gauge what time in the truck will get to my house?

Are Mondays just like more busy, so they come later because they have more packages to deliver beforehand? Are Fridays quicker for some reason? Somebody with real insight help me out here. Because I gotta leave for buisness trip at about 2ish . But I want me fucking Switch before I leave.

Picked mine up at walmart this morning. I'm never gracing the doors of another walmart again. They have the most incompetent staff of any retail store, not that that's news to anyone. I just wanted to remind everyone of how shitty it is. Carry on

Why was your experience so bad? I mean all you have to do is walk up to the counter, ask for them to get it for you, and wait 30 minutes to check out.

Took a flier on a target and a almart this morning on the way into work and both were out. Didn't exactly expect to find one but figured it could be worth a quick run in. Will just wait till I can order one online in a couple weeks.

^^man, I would have thanked my lucky stars had it only been that bad.

Initially, I called and an angry woman told me that "it didn't come out until next week and they had no launch event planned so don't bother calling again." I didn't feel like arguing so I just thanked her and hung up.

Last night I showed up to a Walmart at midnight and got in the back of a line with ~40 people. Everyone was very calm and quiet. One customer had the audacity to ask how many units they had for sale to see if it was worth standing in line. The associate told the guy, "Listen, I'm not about to count them all. So, you can either stand in line or go home." Another kid who pre-ordered was told his console went to the wrong store and there was nothing they could do, so the poor guy left empty handed. I think he may have been autistic/mentally challenged in some way. He was about mid-twenties and his mom had driven him. They were just fucking hateful to the poor guy. I then proceeded to wait until I was about 10th in line before they graciously announced there were only 6 left. So, I bounced.

This morning I hit up a different Walmart and got there when it opened at 6am. Me and two others wandered around the electronics section looking for help and were told we'd have to wait until 7am because "the electronics associates don't usually come in until 7." That didn't fly, so after about an hour of waiting, explaining to them what the product actually was, and helping other customers line up in an orderly fashion, we were paraded back to customer service to wait 15 more minutes. They weren't selling any games either, but at least I walked out with a Switch.

Then I went to Target to find Zelda, where the angriest old man I've ever seen was waiting. This has become a wall of text so I won't go into details but he was so pissed about all the phone calls, questions, and work he had to do because of this thing that he initially told me they were all out of Zelda until I physically took him to the case and demanded he let me buy the damn thing.

Sorry, I didn't mean to turn this into a big complaint and maybe this is to be expected for a console launch but Walmart and old guys at Target just don't give a fuck.

Knock on wood but I guess I have been lucky with amazon. Was able to order a nes classic when it first came out and got my switch from amazon today.

With that said Zelda is awesome.

not hating on the Switch, but have y'all encountered any of these issues?

I really want to play the Zelda game but I'll probably wait until the Switch comes down under $200 because I just don't see myself playing it much outside of Zelda and Mario Kart / World / Galaxy

I've encountered none of those issues but I have experienced the left joycon connection issues. It's really damn irritating and there is no anticipating when it will happen. That said, I haven't experienced it other than during a really long play session on Saturday. Friday and yesterday were fine. For me, this is a Zelda machine right now and I couldn't be happier.

Having worked retail and game launches before, what will happen is a slow trickle of systems periodically for a few months. The retail workers won't have any way to know when or how many they'll get cause whenever corporate gets their latest batch they'll just allocate them however they see fit and each store will probably get a couple at a time.

I just wish Amazon would go ahead and let me plunk down the cash and get in line there instead of just pushing third party scalpers.

Two weeks after launch and these things are still unavailable in stores. And it isn't even the holiday season.

Nintendo is the worst.

HOOPS was going to sell me one and I decided I better not spend the money, but I'm still just looking, and nobody has them in stock. It's ridiculous.

^Yeah I expected a trickle of systems here and there but it sounds like they aren't really showing up anywhere.

I'm curious if nintendo or retailers are holding up stock to do a big second availability but that seems dumb to me.
