We're living in the part of the dystopian novel that most authors don't reveal...the cause of whatever downfall in which the story takes place.

At least we'll have twitter for some historical sources.

This escalating violence at the border should make it painfully clear that this hysteria over migration is not about electoral gamesmanship, but about consolidating state power by setting the table to retroactively determine citizenship and ones legal status.

^^ it's a slog. The first section is mostly exposition. The majority of her analysis occurs in the second/third part of I remember correctly.

Honestly I'd recommend getting it on audiobook if you could (it's like 20+ hours long).

Exactly.

Remember that time UNC got busted for having fake classes for like decades and the NCAA didn't do shit? This is like that.

Well he's still the President, and you can't indict him, that hasn't changed. There's nothing ambiguous about these public court filings though: Trump perjured himself in his written answers and Mueller has proof. Mitch McConnell is about to enter the worst 2 years of his life.

^^ Counterpoint: The NCAA lacked subpoena power and had a more amicable relationship with UNC than federal prosecutors have with President Trump.

Results will be bad politically, but not criminally.

It seems the Trump campaign and the NRA illegally coordinated ad buys.

https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2018/12/nra-trump-2016-campaign-coordination-political-advertising/

Quote :
"The National Rifle Association spent $30 million to help elect Donald Trump—more than any other independent conservative group. Most of that sum went toward television advertising, but a political message loses its power if it fails to reach the right audience at the right time. For the complex and consequential task of placing ads in key markets across the nation in 2016, the NRA turned to a media strategy firm called Red Eagle Media.

One element of Red Eagle’s work for the NRA involved purchasing a slate of 52 ad slots on WVEC, the ABC affiliate in Norfolk, Virginia, in late October 2016. The ads targeted adults aged 35 to 64 and aired on local news programs and syndicated shows like Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune. In paperwork filed with the Federal Communications Commission, Red Eagle described them as “anti-Hillary” and “pro-Trump.”

The Trump campaign pursued a strikingly similar advertising strategy. Shortly after the Red Eagle purchase, as Election Day loomed, it bought 33 ads on the same station, set to air during the same week. The ads, which the campaign purchased through a firm called American Media & Advocacy Group (AMAG), were aimed at precisely the same demographic as the NRA spots, and often ran during the same shows, bombarding Norfolk viewers with complementary messages.

The two purchases may have looked coincidental; Red Eagle and AMAG appear at first glance to be separate firms. But each is closely connected to a major conservative media-consulting firm called National Media Research, Planning and Placement. In fact, the three outfits are so intertwined that both the NRA’s and the Trump campaign’s ad buys were authorized by the same person: National Media’s chief financial officer, Jon Ferrell."

The three companies also share an address and ad buyers who were simultaneously making buys for both Trump and the NRA. Raycom sports gets a shout-out.

Trump officially announced Kelly is leaving

I’m wondering if this is his way of forcing him out

Kelly is scum but I think Trump is entering his phase of fighting impeachment and conviction and Kelly probably wants no part of that. Every resource of the executive branch is now going to protecting trump and his family, even more so than before.

The “campaign finance contribution stuff isnt illegal, but if it is, Obama did it too” narrative is kinda cute. Kind of.

Also, could Individual One be Hannity?

https://www.cnn.com/2018/12/08/politics/jared-kushner-saudi-crown-prince-mohammed-bin-salman/index.html

Quote :
"Washington (CNN)The President's son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, continued to have private conversations with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman following the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, according to The New York Times.

Kushner offered the de facto Saudi ruler advice "about how to weather the storm" following the death of Khashoggi, the Times reported on Saturday, citing a Saudi source familiar with the conversations.
Although White House protocol stipulated that National Security Council staff be present on all phone calls with foreign leaders, Kushner and bin Salman continued to chat informally after Khashoggi's death, the Times reported, citing two former senior American officials and two people briefed by the Saudis.
The White House did not immediately respond to CNN's request for comment on the story."

Seeing Orrin Hatch and John Kennedy’s quotes on this makes me sick. The GOP is lost forever with no way back. These are supposedly serious guys on the Judiciary.

Burn it down, fumigate it and start a new party. There is only Trump left for the GOP.

GOP is already on the wrong side of immigration opinion in America, now it's basically a joke for any Republican to say they believe in the "rule of law".

I'm hoping there's some Democratic operation out there collecting all these video clips to make some damning campaign ads.

If it's Beto (which it is), Obama's 2012 campaign operation will be basically running the show. They aren't fools, that anti-Romney "they made us build the stage they fired us from" ad basically won the election.
