-Mitigating low-income immigration
-Mitigating abortion
-Lower taxes on the wealthy
-Protecting the 2nd amendment
-Israel first

Things you don't like can still be values and these have been core values on the right for a very long time and 3 of them have been core american values on a whole up until recent divergence from democrats. Is anyone ready to say Trump hasn't been dedicated to advancing these values?

^ she's just describing populism. I also don't know what "disenfranchised" group she's referring to-- unless she just means racist white people here? Populism is easy for trump because he doesn't care if his base is entirely white people, and he hates non-white people. All politicians sprinkle some populism into their message, Trump's message is entirely populism-- he has no ideals of his own. It's why he can say with a straight face he's protecting pre-existing conditions when he's doing the exact opposite.

Bernie also uses a lot of populist strategies too, but his base is economically disenfranchised people.

His 2020 strategy involves more outreach/appeal to black communities - https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2020/02/06/trumps-black-outreach-could-actually-work/

"At Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club, the Secret Service was charged the $650 rate dozens of times in 2017, and a different rate, $396.15, dozens more times in 2018, according to documents from Trump's visits.

And at the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, the Secret Service was charged $17,000 a month to use a three-bedroom cottage on the property, an unusually high rent for homes in that area, according to receipts from 2017. Trump's company billed the government even for days when Trump wasn't there."

I can't read the article but what is the claim? That Maralago is expensive? Membership costs 200k + 14k annual dues + 2k per night to stay. 695 sounds like a deal.

^^^no, this is the claim

Quote :
"Eric Trump, an independent entrepreneur who operates at arm’s length from his father’s administration, explained that the move would actually save taxpayers a lot of money. “If my father travels, they stay at our properties for free — meaning, like, cost for housekeeping,” he told Yahoo Finance. “If he stays at one of his places, the government actually … saves a fortune because, if they were to go to a hotel across the street, they’d be charging them $500 a night, whereas, you know, we charge them like 50 bucks.”"

Which is total bullshit and they just funnel millions to the trump family

What do you guys think of Reagan? Admirers of Reagan will think the comparison is a complement towards Trump so to be clear, I think both are complete pieces of shit but both are also heroes to the conservative agenda.

I'm asking because the debate I have on here around Trump isn't about if Trump belongs in the trash can but is about why he belongs in the trash can (policies).

Its clearly bad because it sets a precedent for anyone who tells negative truths to be ousted but where is the connection to democracy? A bit hyperbolic don't you think? When you automatically say bad actions are "bad for democracy" it makes it seem like you either don't know what democracy is or think the public once had a say over when appointees could be fired. We could say the constitution (the one that gave us Trump's power and the US senate) is bad for democracy. When he fires an elected official, I'll say he's bad for democracy.

[Edited on February 8, 2020 at 7:28 PM. Reason : fyi the right thinks you do this stuff because you can't critique him on policy. ]

I guess a Russian troll still new to the English language doesn't realize the pronoun "It" requires an antecedent ("Its clearly bad because it sets a precedent...")

Reminder: Trump is only “good at politics” because there has never been a more shameless liar in the entirety of the human existence. He lies as easy as most of us breath.

Why there is no consequence to this can be debated forever but he simply doesn’t have the same rules applied to him as any other politician ever. I guess because everyone just accepts he is a clown and a fraud?

The President's personal lawyer who was tasked with getting information from Parnas and Furman, now funneling propaganda directly to the AG. It's not a stretch to say that Russian spying agencies are now directly in communication with the AG of the USA.

It's hard to even remember how people were so outraged about Lynch meeting with Clinton now considering all of this... really shows how far we've slipped in ethics and corruption in just 3 years.

but why won't you give him credit for being a good con-artist. No one just accidentally gets away with doing what was always considered political suicide. Conservatives excuse his lies because he gives them the judges, policies, budgets, and messaging they've always wanted.

How much discretion is given to the judge during sentencing? As in going beyond what prosecutors request?

This judge had to expand the gag order on Stone atleast 3 times (as many as I can tell from quick googling)

1st time for threatening people on Insta (NBD that’s classic roger)
2nd time FOR POSTING MEMES OF THE JUDGE WITH CROSSHAIRS ON HER FACE(holy shit how arrogant can you be?)
3rd for lying to the judge on when his book would go on sale.(Judge caught him outright lying to her.)

Other than the blowback from Trump goons, is the possibility that a harsh sentence could be used as a reason for a pardon part of the equation?

Judge can implement anything within the federal sentencing guidelines. Just expect a commutation or pardon at some point if the judge maxes it out.

Basically this just paves the way for a pardon...Jackson will give something within the originally recommended sentence and Trump will pardon with the defense of, “the judge unfairly gave more years than either the defense or prosecution recommended”

They don’t care. At all.

Trump is either ushering in end times which is great. Or making libs cry, which is even greater. The vast majority APPLAUD his authoritarian tendencies and want more of them.

Then there are the people who like tax cuts and deregulation and they just sit around saying “well I don’t like it, but socialism, so whatever.”

i was only asking because they appear to be ecstatic right now / just beyond cloud nine.
truly the last time they were so happy was the day after the election when they started making music videos out of the people crying at clintons afterparty.

no democrat candidate or meme will achieve this level of weirdness. trump simply has to implode somehow.

I've found that the die hard Trump supporters that I know have very little use for actual facts. They do not want to hear about laws, precedent, tradition, data, or anything like that.

What do they say now? For them, it's all a means to an end. They claim that it doesn't matter what Trump did to get here, because this is what they always wanted. Which is so weird to me, because I didn't hear anyone say this was the intended outcome during the campaign, or the first years of the Trump presidency. It's still amazing to see the mental gymnastics that people perform to solve their own cognitive dissonance

My fantasy football group text goes pretty much year round now. I'd say 3 of them are pretty hardcore republicans (2 of my friends dads and 1 friend). They literally don't think he's done anything wrong, and the problem is the democrats lying and fabricating things. If you give them a source that says otherwise, they laugh at it.

The loudest Trump supporters I know are happy that we have a good Christian leading our country and fixing the government and saving babies from abortion genocide, one of them frequently share trump memes that have trump photoshopped to look fit and attractive with some sort of MAGA related phrase on them. the more quiet supporters I know are just okay with anything as long as democrats arent winning, I think they would rather burn it all down than let corrupt democrats take power. I also know some anything for libtard tears supporters but of the people I know they are a minority and are also not usually politically active or interested, they just like the culture war.
