^normally I'd agree, but after the past 8 months............well who can really say how low the bar can go.

The part afterwards was fucking astounding. Not unsurprising, of course, but downright astounding.

You could hear a pin drop after those shouted questions.

That must have been the most deafening silence in history.

There will be more of these. A lot more. When his base realizes that he won't fix their shit existence, they'll begin openly terrorizing minority communities as they look for something to blame, and they'll retreat to mythical white nationalist sentiment.

"This requires international solidarity among the working poor. The IWW (Industrial Workers of the World, or "wobblies" as they are called) was an international workers union, because they understood that the capitalist class that could evade national borders in order to evade labor rights if labor wasn't internationally organized..."

The woman who died today in Charlottesville was apparently a member of the IWW.

I'm a sure there will be people, even possibly on TWW, who say he said enough.. but to not explicitly call out white nationalism and neo-fascism/nazism here is egregious and will only embolden those people.

The sad reality is he needs these people and people not quite as bold or flagrant to be on his side or he's toast electorally.

^especially when there were cries for Obama to denounce the BLM protests that turned violent and cries for obama to use specific language to denounce radical Islamic terrorists.

Trump specifically calls out Mitch McConnell or John McCain or whoever else but does his best to sugar coat a statement about fucking nazis. It's not that he's just careful with his words...no...he isn't afraid to call out certain people and actions. But these particular ones, he's especially careful to mince words. Fuck this coward ass racist pandering piece of shit

I forgot that I said this back on page 27:

Quote :
"When Trump says that he wants to be a "law and order president," (remember, he said this after the Dallas shooting) and revoke the citizenship of flag burners, he means this:

"I will target communities of color who oppose me, especially the BLM movement. I will crack down on protests and unconditionally support law enforcement and grant them any means necessary to silence dissent. I will ramp up surveillance and begin spying on my political enemies in order to retain my power"

....

When Trump says he will end the period of "political correctness," he means this:

"I will create an atmosphere where sexist, racist, and bigoted language is tolerated, and I will not condemn or disassociate with radical right wing groups who are now free to take advantage of 'stand your ground' type laws, or 'run over protester' type laws.""

They supporteded him in the primary too. And they don't regret it at all. He answers all of their dogwhistles. About Christmas, about Islam, about minorities, about women.

Evangelicals are the shittiest, most hypocritical people on earth. They don't give a fuck if a few blacks or lefties get killed as long as they can have someone acknowledge their shitty worldview.

Trump's fascism in full swing

Prosecutors Are Demanding Information On People Who Visited An Inauguration Protest Website
https://www.buzzfeed.com/zoetillman/prosecutors-are-demanding-user-information-on-people-who

Quote :
"Federal prosecutors have asked a judge to force a web-hosting company to turn over information about any individuals who visited a website that coordinated anti-Trump demonstrations in Washington, DC, on Inauguration Day.

The company, DreamHost Inc., disclosed information about the government's search warrant in a blog post on Monday. DreamHost said that it is fighting the request, calling it "unfocused" and "unlawful."

"The request from the [Justice Department] demands that DreamHost hand over 1.3 million visitor IP addresses — in addition to contact information, email content, and photos of thousands of people — in an effort to determine who simply visited the website," DreamHost said in Monday's post [emphasis theirs]. "That information could be used to identify any individuals who used this site to exercise and express political speech protected under the Constitution’s First Amendment. That should be enough to set alarm bells off in anyone’s mind.""

There is zero chance that Scavino doesn't know that he is retweeting PizzaGate conspiracists and Richard Spencer friends. Zero. Trump may not but nothing goes out without clearing Scavino.

His words yesterday meant nothing. The White House quite obviously didn't mean it and retweeting Posobiec is a giant alt-right dog whistle.

I mean you're the one claiming a false equivalency when people are simply pointing out Trump's hypocrisy/lack of presidential restrain. I was just trying to point out that your own logic is a bit flawed mainly because your use of the words "no-go, no matter what" imply some type of "absolute" truth exists, when it's not that cut and dry.

He's the fucking POTUS and he uses Twitter like a 13 year old. The Griffin BS was over the top and not funny, but he doesn't get a pass for this just because just because Kathy Griffin took it way too far. Calling him a hypocrite is accurate and within reason.

its not just trump but a dog whistle for the half of my newsfeed asking where the left was when obama didnt denounce blm. i knew it was a racist country but some people needed this to admit that much.

its still not why he won tho. t

So he did another news conference and reitereated his "both sides are to blame" claims. And said he didn't initially call out white nationalist and the kkk because he first wanted to gather facts. He apparently even pulled his initial statement from his coat pocket and read it again.

but during today's conference he said

Quote :
"there is blame on both sides"

Quote :
""There are two sides to a story," he said. He added that some facts about the violence still aren't known."

and

Quote :
"Define alt-right to me. No, define it for me. Define it for me. What about the alt-left that came charging at, as you say, the alt-right? Do they have any semblance of guilt? How about the fact that they came charging with clubs in their hands, swinging clubs? Do they have a problem? I think they do."

Also, there's this

Quote :
"Trump said he had yet to call the mother of the woman killed when a car plowed into a group of anti-racist counter-protesters but said that he would soon "reach out." He praised her for what he said was a nice statement about him on social media."

Quote :
"As Trump finally walked away from his lectern, he stopped to answer one more shouted question: Would be plan to visit Charlottesville, the college town ravaged by the hate-filled clashes? The president's response was to note that he owned property there and to say it was one of the largest wineries in the United States."

Quote :
"But not all of those people were neo-Nazis, believe me. Not all of those people were white supremacists, by any stretch. Those people were also there because they wanted to protest the taking down of a statue, Robert E. Lee. You look at some of the groups and you see—you know it if you are honest reporters, which in many cases you are not—but many of the people were there to protest the taking down of the statue of Robert E. Lee. This week it's Lee. I noticed that Stonewall Jackson is coming down. Is it George Washington next week, and Jefferson the week after?"

I'm just gonna re-post what I said month's ago because it bears repeating. Stop trying to micro-analyze him like he's a typical politician. He's not.

Quote :
"Honestly, at this point, people need to start wising up to the fact that those of us on the left who have been screaming at the top of our lungs for years about opposing all the systems of power that have been put into place (by both parties) which were ripe for abuse were on to something and not just being political reactionaries. We constantly declared that the systems of limitless surveillance, police militarization, and for profit everything would eventually create a system that would be exploited by the worst person possible. That day has arrived.

People need to stop being surprised now, and start thinking about action and meaningful forms of resistance. No, that is not hyperbole. This man is a sincere threat to the stability of the republic, and everything within his history suggests that he will use any and all tools at his disposal to lionize himself and punish his enemies.

To answer your original question. YES. He is setting up a narrative to strip voting rights away from citizens. The right wing has only won ONE presidential election popular vote since the 90s. Think about that for a second.

Now let me translate other popular Trumpism's, and put those in plain English for you as well.

When Trump blasts the media, either through his speeches ("opening up those libel laws"), twitter (they're horrible people), or through his nitwit minions (alternative facts), what he is really saying is this:

"I will silence the media. Only official propaganda will be endorsed. Only friendly media outlets will be given access, and adversarial journalism will be punished."

When Trump says that he wants to be a "law and order president," (remember, he said this after the Dallas shooting) and revoke the citizenship of flag burners, he means this:

"I will target communities of color who oppose me, especially the BLM movement. I will crack down on protests and unconditionally support law enforcement and grant them any means necessary to silence dissent. I will ramp up surveillance and begin spying on my political enemies in order to retain my power"

When Trumpycat says he will build a wall, or even add a Muslim registry, he means this:

"I will create a tiered system of citizenship, and revoke the rights of the poor and the weakest among us. I will create an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty in order to dissuade meaningful resistance."

When Trump says he will end the period of "political correctness," he means this:

"I will create an atmosphere where sexist, racist, and bigoted language is tolerated, and I will not condemn or disassociate with radical right wing groups who are now free to take advantage of 'stand your ground' type laws, or 'run over protester' type laws."

YO, THIS MAN IS DANGEROUS. This will not just blow over and return to normal. We are at a very significant point in history right now, and inaction should not be on the menu."

^^I mean when you wrote that, many of us agreed with all of it, but are you expecting people's view/opinions to suddenly change now that you were 'right' ? People on wacky ends of the political spectrum don't have epiphanies or change their minds when shit like this happens; they double down on their rhetoric because that's what makes them subscribe to extremely warped ideologies in the first place.

Hillary Clinton said the same shit about Trump, but don't expect any Bernie Babies to suddenly have buyer's remorse on August 15th.

^ and no, we 'aren't' done. This shit is just getting started. It's going to get much, much worse before it starts getting any better.

I know a lot of people agreed. I just think it's important that people (mostly moderates) realize that our institutions are not going to correct themselves. This will not be solved at the ballot box. And his dog-whistles need to be vehemently rejected rather than dissected for "reasonable" ground. He's deliberately and specifically targeting certain groups (BLM, Hispanics, Muslims, etc) and he'll very soon realize that he can add "leftists" to that group.

Moderates need to pick a side. It's uncomfortable, and it's scary. But there is no compromise to be made

I see your point, but since you've posted that wall of text twice by my count so far, it comes across a bit more like rubbing it in people's noses than maybe you realize.

Meanwhile, nobody seems to be talking much about NK and the essential de-escalation of its pre-emptive nuclear war threats against Guam. Lucky break for both NK/Trump regime. A nuclear holocaust would really be bad for casino business, so Trump is grateful for yet another fortuitous distraction.

I'd argue today he did just that.

Part of me thinks that it still all comes down to one thing in his puppy-sized brain and that is "good for Trump is good and bad for Trump is bad." But when the good for Trump is making sure people who like him (KKK/Nazi supporters) get protected that starts to be something that needs action.

Quote :

This is an outstanding point, but I'd like to modify it slightly. The institutions can absolutely correct themselves at the ballot box - IF people start voting in ALL the elections instead of just the Presidential election.

ESPECIALLY local/state representative elections.

But they won't. So, you are correct.
