Half of his presidency is a golf break, the other half is him debating on where that next break will be.

This has been getting shared around by my Jewish friends:

Quote :
"From a colleague (intentionally posted without attribution):

Just got off the phone with someone in Washington, D.C., who is helping to plan the White House’s Hanukkah Banquet this year. It seems the White House was interested in borrowing a special hanukkiah to use in this year’s celebration.

I told her we are honored to be asked.
I told her I wish I could say yes.
I told her that Hanukkah’s celebration of religious freedom, spreading light in the face of darkness, cultivating hope instead of fear, is antithetical to everything this White House has embraced.
I told her we would have to say no.

Then I received a second phone call, that this conversation should be kept confidential. I asked why. Because it wouldn’t be appropriate, I was told. Because this is how things are done in Washington, D.C., I was told.

I told her I would take that into consideration.
I did.
And then I wrote this post."

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-organization-value-down-revenue-sales-new-york-us-president-donald-trump-family-business-a8058236.html

I think we now know why he won't release his tax returns.

Quote :
"The Trump Organization in New York is reportedly worth one tenth of the value it previously claimed.

Donald Trump's family business had previously ranked near the top of Crain's New York Business' list of largest privately held companies.

But this year it's fallen from number three to number 40 after the President disclosed the organisation's revenue to federal regulators.

While the Trump Organization claimed $9.5bn (£7.2bn) in sales last year, Mr Trump's public filings suggest revenues of less than a tenth of that amount, between $600m (£450m) and $700m (£530m)."

Good god, did you read the reason?

Quote :
"The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service issued a written notice on Thursday saying that allowing elephants in Zimbabwe and Zambia to be killed will enhance the survival of the threatened species by raising money for conservation programs from wealthy trophy hunters who pay to shoot them."

I'm literally speechless. I have to ask - are there any numbers that actually back this statement up?!

^^that's the argument for many big game safaris. Supposedly the money is used for conservation efforts.... but I think this is really stretching it considering how endangered elephants are (and how intelligent they are).

Yea. I mean I'm not going to argue with numbers if there is some evidence out there it works.

Furthermore, if it's already legal to hunt over there, all this law would have done is possibly lowered the number of Americans going over to do it. I can't imagine it would have had a big impact one way or the other.

In that case, maybe it was a stupid law to begin with that never should have existed.

I believe the intention was to help stem the illicit ivory trade in the USA.

I have no idea if the law actually helped, but I'm pretty sure that was the main argument.

Hunting license fees and taxes on guns and ammo raise $3B per year for wildlife conservation and management in the US. The American wildlife management model (Pittman act passed in 1937) is pretty much the most successful in the world (arguable).

Africa's success will be different, different culture, different animals, but it's not crazy to suggest that fees on hunting could go a long ways toward funding conservation.

I spoke with two or three friends of mine who were implying the same thing, that's why I started backing down from my initial shock.

But I think everyone can agree that whoever released that statement probably should have added a few sentences indicating why they thought killing more animals would save them, lol.

are we hunting endangered species in the us? I think it would make perfect sense if we weren't talking about killing the species that are actually at high risk.

the “this fuels conservation” argument has been put through legitimate scrutiny by both 60 Minutes and Real Sports over the years, it’s just hard to find a full video to post a link to.

long story short, it’s a completely bullshit argument that should not be taken seriously

they have both brought up the “follow the money” argument, and it’s total bullshit

This is a great video to watch.

Why it's so damn hard to take your eyes and ears off Trump.

https://news.vice.com/story/7-public-speaking-tips-from-donald-trump

Quote :
"Politics aside, Donald Trump’s ability to hold the attention of an audience — and a nation — is undeniable. It’s a quality anyone who does public speaking has to be envious of.

To find out what makes Trump so hard to ignore, VICE News spoke to Dr. Jennifer Mercieca, a professor and historian of political rhetoric, and Mark Liberman, a professor of linguistics and computer science. Both have studied Trump’s speech extensively and together they provided us seven signature moves Trump uses to engage an audience."

Video in link.

He's just a rambling idiot

the fact he has some charisma doesn't change this

Quote :
" McMaster bluntly trashed his boss, said the sources, four of whom told BuzzFeed News they heard about the exchange directly from Catz. The top national security official dismissed the president variously as an “idiot” and a “dope” with the intelligence of a “kindergartner,” the sources said.

A sixth source who was not familiar with the details of the dinner told BuzzFeed News that McMaster had made similarly derogatory comments about Trump’s intelligence to him in private, including that the president lacked the necessary brainpower to understand the matters before the National Security Council."

Trump has a knack for creating "winning issues" out of thin air. Lavar Ball had a bad interview on CNN and now the internet is blowing up with insults towards him. This was an easy target because he was already hated, and was guaranteed to respond and trump knew those things. He attacked him in the way the media and Lavar would go crazy but without sounding rude. "He's just asking for a simple "thank you", right? How hard could that be?".

and of course its a racist dog whistle but those don't only work on conscious racists, they work on the racist subconscious of our population.

How is this a win? Were any of the people that are happy with the way Trump handled this going to vote for someone else or oppose any Trump policy? If it’s a win just to impress these people why even manufacture a situation like this? You think they’re so nuanced that if he just randomly came out once a week and said, “black people are ungrateful” they’d see through that?

So then you THINK these are wins based on no results in the past year while ignoring all the recent races where republicans have underperformed compared to trump a year ago

Here’s where my post about your absolutist language comes into play. This is your opinion based on nothing tangible, but you speak about it like it’s gospel

Its a discussion board. I shouldn't have to premise my posts with disclaimers stating that they are my opinion. I'm not claiming to be a journalist. I have confidence but the "like its gospel" part is in your head, not my words.

Trump has clashed with Republicans and the "trump helped republicans" argument worked in 2016 but why would you expect it to work off-years when trump isn't on the ballot to bring the passionate people to the polls? Midterm elections are just not the same.

My opinion is based on the stream i see from the collection of social media "friends" I've amassed while living in 5 states. Its anecdotal but they are reposting these sentiments from pro-trump pages where the posts already have millions of views. The fact that they are all making the same sort of conclusions in different parts of the country, from different pages independent of each other, tells me that it is at least some sort of indication of whats going on. Only time will tell if its good but its better than nothing and its certainly better than "virginia and nj elected democrats therefore its over for trump"

There are a lot of people on this board and I don’t agree with all of them, but yet I’m most annoyed by the language you use even though I probably agree with you on more issues than some others. I don’t know you and don’t give a shit about you, so if I have a negative impression about the way you post it’s because of the way you post, not something in my head

So your evidence is people you know posting pro trump things? Nobody on this board is disputing that a lot of people who voted for this piece of shit are enjoying his race baiting. The question is whether or not continuing that accomplishes anything for him. Yes, any election over the past year is only conjecture. Behind that all you can say that’s tangible is that he hasn’t actually influenced any major legislation, though he might have hindered anything on his agenda.

Its all he ever did. Trump never had in-depth policy and just used these same tactics throughout the entire primary and into the general. He doesn't have to pass legislation he just has to keep the perception that he wants to pass "good legislation". When you aren't specific, you can keep perception good because people can fill in the details of what the legislation will be with whatever they want. He's a master manipulator.
