Rightfully deserved or not, I'm already getting sick of press coverage of Trump. I'm not going to be able to take 4 years of this. I had to listen to conservative media for 8 years do nothing but rail against Obama, but at least they were a small subset of outlets. Now all I see on CNN, and through ABC and NBC are constant hit pieces.

I think I read somewhere that the fact that the time was taken to brief Pres Obama and Trump means a lot. If it wasn't something they felt was true or hadn't vetted they wouldn't have wasted the time on the briefing. We will see I suppose...

It's obvious what is going on here. The Russians didn't want Trump in the WH because they thought he would be pro-Russia. They wanted Trump in the WH because he's weak and has secrets that are more easily accessible than Clinton's.

Look, we're all getting bogged down in the details here

The point of that report wasn't even to tell the world about someone's strange sexual practices. The point of the report, as a whole, was to point out that Russia is indeed meddling in our affairs. The Ritz-Carlton details were included because Russia felt the need to give salacious information about a potential candidate to someone else, potentially causing more unrest than what we already have here in the US.

I think the larger point (overarching theme) of the dossier was that a foreign nation has compromising information on Trump, potentially affecting his judgement while in office. Also that Trump may have actively accepted help from a foreign nation in this election to beat his opponent.... tug on that thread hard enough, and I could see an argument for treason.

EMCE kind of already hit on this, but if a sitting US president has compromising information being held over his head by a foreign government, that's the kind of thing that news agencies should report on. If you're going to report on stuff, verify the story. I'm no supporter of Trump but lately when they've been reporting this or that I tend to dismiss it all because of stuff like this. FWIW I never liked Obama or Hillary either. I did like Jimmy McMillan, say what you want about the guy but he would have brought good, common sense to the table.

^ The overall gist of the story is fairly well verified: it seems the Russians have some kind of compromising information about the man who is about to become the US President. The pee stuff might be bullshit, but the things that CNN is reporting aren't likely to be. And, to their credit, CNN and others are waiting to verify the more salacious aspects before writing about them explicitly, which is much more than can be said about BuzzFeed. I don't know how much more "verified" you can get than "the FBI gave this info directly to Obama and Trump."
