Simple google search for those who don't know about Kevin keatts and No he didn't come after brownell left. DePaulo axed him and for 9 years the school gave up on basketball then got a new chancellor. Hired keatts ( who was the head coach of Hargrove academy where he coached 10 D1 prospects per season and won a championship followed by 3 years of being pitinos head recruiter for their teams that made the final four and then won the ship the next year then went to uncw who hadn't had a winning season in forever and has won back to back to back CAA championships while having a great NC pipeline. I went to both schools and I hope he stays at uncw but I also know it's inevitable a 42 year old hot commodity will leave and I hope it's not to coach a team that will end up more successful than ncsu.

^^^seems like the odds that he takes the State job are fairly low.

i don't know whether or not he's the hottest commodity...probably, yes. if you're asking, is the only reason we want Archie because he went to State, then the answer is no. he's proven himself as a head coach, has a really strong track record, more experience than some other candidates (Keatts, Wade), is widely considered to be one the better young coaches, and most think he's in a position to hold out for his "dream job" as opposed to striking while the iron is hot. and i think we're hoping that his playing career and connection to State will be a point in our favor.

you can hold out hope for Archie, that's totally fine. you're right, the national media doesn't always get the full picture about State and quite often is flat out wrong. i'm not saying we don't stand a chance with Archie. but when nearly all media...national, local, even State guys...are saying that they don't think he'll come (and yes, those guys do know more than message board posters) or are at best skeptical about his interest, i tend to think there's probably something to that.

all of that said, it's obviously still early and i'd guess that the most we've done is reach out to his agent to gauge potential interest....not like there's been any kinda real meetings with him. it's not at all far fetched for me to say that most signs point to it being unlikely that we get Archie.

obviously nobody knows for 100% certainty either way. jesus. i'm really not trying to be difficult here or pick a fight. but it seems like, by almost all accounts (yes, sometimes people are wrong) it is more likely than not we won't have Archie as our coach next year. i don't find that statement to be particularly controversial or that i'm really going out on a limb by saying that. especially considering i'm saying it in response to The Duke asking what the odds are that we get him.

of course we should take pretty much every piece of information we hear about the search with a grain of salt...at best most of what we hear is probably 3rd hand information. but that doesn't mean that everything from every media member at every level is just bullshit either.
