Just seeing if anyone would like to share some funk, whether it be funky soul, jazz, blues, rock, electronic, hip hop...
My contribution: Fred Wesley's Four Play

So basically share any kind of music? Because you just listed a bunch of non-funk genres] 4/19/2017 8:04:37 PM |

If it's funky, sure.
I don't listen to a lot of blues, so I'm not able to think of a funky blues song at the moment; however, I feel like the following songs would qualify as funky:
Funky soul: Smokey Robinson - Baby That's Backatcha Funky jazz: the aforementioned Fred Wesley - Four Play Funky rock: Dr. John - Right Place Wrong Time Funky electronic: Daft Punk - Lose Yourself to Dance Funky hip hop: Sugar Hill Gang - Rapper's Delight
You're right, though; there would likely be a lot of bleeding through of the genres.
I guess if anyone feels like posting some good blues, do that too. 4/20/2017 12:16:16 AM |

I'm not expert on musical genres, but why isn't the title of this thread just "Funk Music?" 4/20/2017 12:18:06 AM |

It probably should have been, but I think that I made it funky so not to limit it to the specific funk genre.
I'm seriously wanting to find some funky blues now, if it exists.
I think that I was originally going to title it: "Funk."

Thanks for the contribution.
I checked out the songs from one of the Country Funk compilations, and a lot of them sounded like early southern rock.
John Randolph Marr's Hello L.A., Bye-Bye Birmingham sounded like it would qualify as funky country, and I'd describe Bobby Darin's Light Blue as having a funky blues sound.
Haha, funky classical, anyone?
\/ Awesome.

Daft Punk are primarily an electronic group, but other than the vocoder, there's nothing electronic about this song.4/20/2017 8:40:20 PM |

^^ Nice.
^ That's true, but I felt that the vocoder was sufficient enough to qualify it as electronic.
