All the old threads are old threads.

Started watching it really for the first time (catching up on a lot of older shows). HBO really knows how to do a great show.

Although Tony's mother is one of the most insufferable characters in a tv show I think I've ever seen. Although some folks in Tony's gang are just a little too stereotypical.

And what a great window to the 90's/00's.

No. But they referenced it on 30 Rock once. Robert Wuhl at his finest though.

Amazing how bigoted this show was allowed to be, at least for the first two seasons.

Doubt it would fly today though.

The characters in 13 Reasons Why are all fictional, that doesn't keep the show from getting controversy stirred up.

of course it would fly today

the characters are the bigots. the show isn't promoting bigotry.

it may shock you to find out that there are a lot of racist people out in the world.

Interesting timing of this thread, as I'm currently rewatching the series. Almost done with season 4.

What I've really noticed, maybe more than when I watched it a decade+ ago, is how shitty of a person Tony's sister Janice is. And Tony's kids Meadow & AJ are little shits as well, lol.

So after watching several seasons of this show, I have to wonder, how do mafia types communicate these days now that we don't have pay phones?

I think the Season 2 finale "funhouse" is my favorite episode. There are other great ones (Whitecaps, Pine barrens, etc)but this one gets me in the Jimmies.

Watching the episode now where everybody gets capped. The tension in the train store was awful.

I also find it thoroughly awesome that Silvio is Steven Van Zandt from the E Street Band, and his wife IRL played his wife in the show.

Paulie Walnuts was a real life gangster and had a stipulation that he wouldn't be portrayed as a rat at any point during the show.

Sir!!!! You can't be a white male between the ages of 22-40 and not say The Wire is the greatest work of art ever produced!

You're a real piece of shit.

I was a huge fan of the first few seasons. Went off the rails for me a little bit towards the end. Probably my third favorite TV drama of all time after West Wing and The Wire.

if you look good, you'll notice the guy walking into the bathroom clearly has a gun tucked into the back of his shirt.

I've been listening to Kevin Morby's "Baltimore County Line" a lot lately and the line "I'm a soldier, Adriana" gets me every time.

Kinda sad David Chase is cashing in on the nostalgia craze.

That being said, Gandolfini's son is a near dead-wringer for a young Tony. I'll watch.

David Chase is a genius! I've been re-watching this series on repeat for the past 8 months.

Season 1 Episode 6 - Pax Saprano - Tony's 2nd Dream Sequence

Tony is in his home bathroom when he hears the shower next to the toilet. He glances over to see the figure of a naked woman through the frosted glass doors. The shower stops, the shower door opens, and he sees Dr. Melfi.

Is this Lorraine Bracco IRL or a stand in?

Lorraine Bracco thiccc!

Liking the theme music in Season 3 E1: Mr. Ruggerio's Neighborhood. Brilliantly executed mashup of Henry Mancini's "Peter Gunn" and The Police's "Every Breath You Take."

So I watched The Many Saints of Newark, and while I enjoyed seeing the younger versions of some of the characters, overall I was pretty disappointed. This was billed as an origin story for Tony Soprano, and all it really did was just show him hanging out with his uncle for a bit. I was expecting a Tony Soprano breaking bad, and the movie was NOT that.

I just rewatched seasons 1-5 for the first time since they premiered and season 6 for the first time. This is a phenomenal show, but I totally get why people hated the finale. I didn't hate it, but it also didn't quite work for me. There's something heightened about it.

Younger generations just don’t know the importance of this show when they watch it for the first time.

This show blew minds. I know that’s hard to believe given the vast amount of prestige TV that came afterwards, but this was the first show to offer up the kind of writing, acting and production values typically seen in movies.

I didn’t watch it when it came out, but we had HBO in the dorms so I should have.

How so? She was married into the mafia, had been around them for years. She knew the risks and what would happen if she was found out. I guarantee you Tony would've done the same to his wife.

I am reminded of Louis the whatever's finance minister...he built this chateau — Nicole and I saw it when we went to Paris — it even outshone Versailles, where the king lived. In the end, Louis clapped him in irons
