speak for yourself, but outside Besiktas I would rather have seen them then PSG who knocked us out the last time.

I can see Spurs being able to beat a weaker Juve side but Juve usually catches their stride towards the second half of the season.

I hope Conte gets royally fucked. I want United v City in the quarter finals so I really hope we don't screw it up against Sevilla. Hate Spanish teams in the CL but I think Mourinho should be able to figure this out. Refreshing to be in the CL knockouts after a long absence.

Nothing soft about that it was the correct decision. It clearly redirected off his hand into the net. Intentional or not, that should never count as a goal because you can't gain an advantage from that action.

So Man City has the record now for longest winning streak in the Premier League. Wouldn't be surprised if Spurs beat them on Saturday only to lose 2-0 to Burnley the next week.

This city team hasn’t won shit yet and people are comparing it to great PL winning teams. Season isn’t halfway over yet lmao.

I love the general attitude of the football world. Hate PSG because of the oil money but let’s suck on City’s golden balls because Pep and attacking football achieved through 3 years of planning and a shit ton of oil money.

City will likely win the title but the only way they are a team for the ages is if they beat the invicibles, win a treble or get more than 95 points. The rest is just pure talk.

City has outspent United over the last decade and City's squad was basically hand picked and planned for Pep. Man United's squad has been assembled with a lot of money but by three different managers. United finished 7, 4, 5, 6 over the last four years. At Chelsea's record breaking points season they were on 43 points after 18 games. Arsenal's invincibles were at 42 points. This United team is on 41 points. City is clearly ahead in personnel and development at this moment from United and have been fantastic on a consistent basis but until they can achieve the points record, go invincible, or win the CL/Treble they haven't achieved anything yet.

I agree

City haven't won anything yet, they need multiple trophies this season or to set the PL point record.

One person: in my opinion this team is really good

Soccer Earl: ah, ah, ah that shall not pass good sir, I shall not allow the masses to agree on one combined opinion that i disagree with, observe my fact based treatise that proves the verdict is still out on whether, in fact, this team is really good

^ Meh... I've seen him borderline praise this City team a couple times and that as a United fan. Me. I'll never praise a Spurs/Chelsea team. Ever*. So fair play to him. (*I kid mostly of course - i appreciate the game too much)

yea bias isnt really the main problem, its taking something as simple as someone saying essentially "this team looks really good" as argument fodder

I expected the Guardiola hate from you wazza. And I'm not saying they're the best team in PL history.

I just think your logic for not giving them credit is pretty ridiculous. He doesn't get credit because he hand-picked the right players for his system and to do well in the PL? Makes no sense. Plenty of teams spend tons of money and get nowhere with it. His big transfers are all contributing. Not sure who you'd even say is a bust?

Look how many players he's improving: Sterling (best season ever), Stones (really starting to live up to his fee), Fernandinho (much improved under Pep), and Delph (you're telling me any coach converts him to LB with no problems? FOH). KDB was always good but I think he's tied with Hazard as the best player in the league and I definitely think Pep's system deserves some credit for it.

Also I think he's transitioning the older players/leaders out of the squad seamlessly and the squad overall is definitely set up for the future nicely.

I am not going to lie I think he is a pompous prick and I would definitely love to punch his bald face but he is also a great manager that if given the right players can do wonders for any team. He isn't the kind of guy that can take a team like Sevilla, Tottenham or Porto and win IMO. However if given the resources and the players who have some footballing intelligence his system is probably the best in football history.

See I get this. I have been very complimentary about this city side and they deserve it. However its hard for me to see journalists constantly shitting on Mourinho and praising Guardiola for the exact same things. Mourinho has come in and taken a team that finished 7th, 4th and 5th and in two years improved it enough to become title challengers. He has improved players like Jones, Smalling, Rojo, Lingard, and Ashley Young is on fire at LWB. He has us in a position where we would be in the middle of the title race in any other year and we are even playing good football for the most part. City was set up for Pep before he even came in and that isn't a criticism but that explains why they are bossing the league and United is still a step behind. Then I see articles stating "United going nowhere fast under Mourinho as Pep's progress shows gulf in class."

Like wtf? Pep's record breaking season so far is showing a gulf in class no doubt but to deny the clear improvement for United under Mourinho is laughable. I get it people love to hate on the team that has won everything for a long time (ala patriots) but its a bit over the top.

City is doing great things but excuse me for thinking they aren't a team for the ages before we have even played half of the season.

Read what I wrote again. Besides a record breaking city this united team are historically within the points range to challenge for a title. The biggest gap between first and second with United’s point total after 18 matches was 5 points in the last 8 years.

We're not discussing a hypothetical title won under normal circumstances. We're discussing the actual 2017-18 Premier League trophy, which United appears highly unlikely of winning.

Thats fine but I am happy with the progression. I have said it before, City's success isn't United's failure. City's season is an anomaly and if we lose the title to them this year because they score over 90 points then hats off to them. They are simply dominating it and its good for them. Any other season we would be title challengers and thats good enough for me. Still have 20 matches to go. Anything can happen in football.

Typical Liverpool v arsenal Match yesterday. The shit defense for both makes for quiet an entertaining match for neutrals. Chelsea, Liverpool and arsenal dropping points. United has no excuses not to win today and consolidate the 2nd spot. Would be nice going into christmas with city dropping points too.

Not going to be happy if we can't get the job done today.

Just not disciplined enough. Still would've won it with a real goalkeeper though. Fuck another CB, LFC needs to break the bank for an elite goalkeeper. Any other team in the Top 6 would've replaced Mignolet 3 years ago.

I haven't watched them that much this year but holy shit, Arsenal's midfield was absolutely dreadful. Iwobi and Xhaka are not good.

^ I agree but Cech also cost Arsenal the goal. I think 3-3 was a fair result on balance of play. I think if Liverpool had converted one of the two chances they had at the end of the first half and made it 2-0 going into the half it would have been easier for you lot to hold on to that lead.

I must say having a quality GK makes a huge difference in how you approach defending too. Look at City and United and how both of their keepers complement the two defenses.

The midfield yesterday for Arsenal was atrocious. I don't know what the typical midfield is but I imagine not having Ramsey and Coquelin didn't help them in this regard. The liverpool press was too much for them. Not sure why Kolasinac didn't start either.

Coquelin is horrible too. They’ve needed to buy a midfielder ever since Cazorla got injured. Xhaka might could work in a 3, but the way they’re setup now he just doesn’t have the mobility.

Kolasinac didn’t start because he’s not quick enough to keep up with Salah. He’s more of a LWB anyway.

You've lost the plot sir

I have a feeling we may be talking about whether that golden donkey Andy Carroll or VVD is the biggest fleecing in Liverpool history soon.

This guy is overrated and even more overpriced. Kane made him look like he'd never seen a football before two seasons ago and now he's the most expensive defender in history.
