I would never give someone driving drunk a pass, but I'm pretty sure the guy is in dark place right now, with being down and out in his back and not being able to play the game that has defined his life.

^ Have you ever read that article talking about how he basically embarked on this crazy quest to "be" his dad, with massive womanizing and special forces training? Like, he was essentially using his deep pockets to play SEAL, which is part of why he got injured and couldn't recover properly.

That is not the problem. When you are drunk, driving is fun.

he released this statement
Quote :
""I understand the severity of what I did and I take full responsibility for my actions," Woods said in a statement Monday evening. "I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved. What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn't realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly.

"I would like to apologize with all my heart to my family, friends and the fans. I expect more from myself too," he said."

Hollow words ring hollow.

Id rather him be honest and let us know he'll probably be doing it again soon.

only issue i have with his statement is the "unexpected reaction" to prescription medicine. i'm assuming painkillers, although that's not specified. he's had so many surgeries and injuries that i'd guess he's pretty familiar with how those prescription meds work and how his body reacts to them. but again, maybe it was a new medicine or something.

he had surgery a month or so ago, so it's possible that it's something he isn't used to

unfortunately, he was already charged with a DUI before in 2009 (got away with it), so the "I didn't realize the mix of medications had affected me so strongly" line doesn't exactly vindicate him here.

besides, when you're prescribed opiates for surgery, they go out of their way to warn you not to drive, so ignorance of the law doesn't really fly here. anecdotally, one could even argue being pilled out of your mind on opiates is probably even more dangerous than drunk driving because you're more prone to nodding off. he's lucky he's rich

I wonder if that TWW user who's GF got busted for DUI at the dentist's office can chime in

you always should decline the field sobriety tests. they are not required by law and can only hurt you in court

Lol. Unexpected reaction to the medication.

I almost feel lIke dui on ambien and Xanax should be a harsher penalty. Those things are just asking for massive accidents

His career has been in the toilet for years, which is pretty sad, given how talented of a golfer he is.

As I said earlier, he's lucky he's rich, because he already entered some bullshit diversion program and won't have any real consequences for his actions. It's not even a slap on the wrist.

Mixing those types of painkillers, Xanax, and having THC in his system isn't pain management- it's drug abuse, if not full blown addiction at this point.

On one hand, I feel bad for him because he's got to be in a ton of emotional pain from being so washed up (LOL @ physical pain though since he is probably high as a kite 24/7 with that type of drug regimen). On the other, I'm pissed that so many other people would actually be doing hard time or have their kids taken away from them, if they got caught doing what he did.

He got charged with reckless driving iirc...so yeah, no real legal consequences, but I'm sure there will be plenty of personal and professional consequences.

his body is really broken down, and it's more likely than not that his addiction came from pain management, like millions of others

having THC in his system supports the argument that he still is dealing with pain management

I mean you can continue to make excuses for him all you want, but that's the same enabling bullshit that's part of his core issues right now.

He's rich enough to have a full staff of drivers cart him around 24/7. Stop acting like this is just 'pain management' because he's your favorite golfer.

Benzos and opiates potentiate one another like crazy- everybody knows that. He drove high as fuck because he didn't give a fuck.

What? It can still be a result of "pain management". That doesn't discount the fact that he shouldn't have been driving, that he could have a chauffeur, etc. You really go on some weird rants.

It certainly can be, but the point of using it is to be in lieu of opiates/benzos, not as a supplement to addictive pharma drugs or to potentiate a cocktail of euphoric bliss (my money is on the latter)

I mean if anything, we should be collectively pissed at his doctor(s) for being so grossly negligent. If he had combined enough booze with all of that stuff, he could have stopped breathing.

are you aware of the retired NFL players who advocate for marijuana use as a way to get off of pharmaceutical painkillers?

it's been an issue that is gaining support due to the legalization in certain states

Yes, I am aware. They weren't caught driving under the influence of five different drugs though, so I guess keep trying?

Can you provide a link to an article where any of them got arrested for DUI with five different drugs in their systems, and then got away with it? If so, that would be great, because that's what this thread is about.

I mean i think it's pretty clear hed completely hooked at this point.

Probably explains a lot about his game deteriorating so much the last decade.

The eyes In his mugshot say there's no one home right now. Hopefully he gets help . He's such a rich egomaniac that its going to be a real struggle for him though . I doubt he ever really gets off them
