I thought this was just a new made-up word that people threw around, but it has already made it into the dictionary, and so has its antonym "unwoke".

I meant more along the lines of fashion trends I guess I could care less about what the word of the week is. Yes most of them sound stupid but it was the same way when we were kids. For instance when I was in middle/high it became popular for all the guys to dye their hair bleach blonde and they looked like complete morons... this was soon followed by everyone having shaved heads so maybe they all realized it haha. Just hopeful that whatever the trend is when mine hits that age that its something not quite as stupid as that.

The apparent symptoms are curbing of [legal, allowed] free speech, forcefully shutting down talks and speeches at universities, shouting down and physically attacking speakers, and more. The etiology is kids having been mollycoddled during their [non-]upbringing and told they are always right, so when free speech hurts their feelings, they resort to verbal violence, sending death threats, 'cancelling' people (by forcing the hands of the authorities and/or the public), and physical violence against people and public and private property.
