Just got back, really enjoyed it but a few non spoiler items.

-If you haven't seen the trailer yet, don't watch it. They blow a lot of the cool stuff in the trailer and could have probably saved a bit more for the movie.

-Tonally it's a bit heavier than I expected, not an issue just different from what I thought in my head.

-Starts a couple threads and involves a couple characters in ways you think would come back or have more impact later but doesn't really go anywhere.

-Probably should have ended several times earlier but that's just me. Tends to be a thing with Wright movies where he wants to tie up the endings in specific ways instead of the more expected one and it tends to push his movies a bit longer than they might otherwise need to be.

- The leads in this movie are the least interesting characters, though I found Ansel Elghort (sp?) better than I expected.

All in all I would recommend it. But seriously I think you'll like it more if you don't watch the trailer beforehand.

Meh. Started out ok, but then just got stupid. Style over substance, which is fine if your into that crap I guess. Thats pretty much standard for modern film.

Oh yeah, and the idea of Kevin Spacey as a "crime boss" shot-gunning guys down with reckless abandon was retarded. Terrible casting choice.

Hamm, Spacey, and Foxx are great

Car chases are great

Soundtrack was pretty good

Lead actor couple thing was boring.

^ You shouldn't watch The Usual Suspects. Doesn't seem like you're thing

Loved it

Only knock is late car chase in parking garage could have done with about 50% fewer cuts and ending was too dreamy

thank you for the insults and personal attack. I simply stated I did not care for a movie you happened to enjoy, that is certainly grounds for a personal attack

Just saw it today, never watched a trailer, and I'm not a huge Edgar Wright fan, but I really really liked it.

Ok fair enough time for some spoiler discussion here:

My issues with it:
- Kevin's Spacey's turn at the end makes no sense from what we've been shown up to that point about his character. This may be the biggest issue I have with the movie because it is really jarring that I had to stop and ask if I really missed something and took me out of the moment.
- Jon Berenthals character gets a decent amount of setup and screen time and then just never comes back.
- I assumed that the ex-military guy on the truck heist would have been undercover PD or private security hired and there would be some sort of either police or authority figure trying to bring them down but he's just some samaritan guy with heavy weaponry that keeps the chase going despite all the crazy shit that's going down?
- Baby is dumb, all he had to do was say the job is off when Doc asked him. If Doc really was his friend he could have walked then and no problems. Maybe the idea is he doesn't know this but then what he does later he wouldn't have any idea that should work out.
- We don't need to see him getting caught and paroled Ed. Just cut to black as she's driving him west. The End.

Plot issues aside it was alot of fun and the style makes up for that, but those things have been driving me crazy.

I'd agree somewhat to the point about Spacey's turn, but i don't think they really spent all that much time on Jon Berenthals character though. I was sort of thinking/wondering that same stuff at the time with the ex-military guy, but by the end of the movie I had completely forgotten about it and it didn't bother me because i was enjoying everything so much. Also i loved the Michael Myers gag.

SPOILERS

I agree it was weird they set up Hamm to be a pretty good dude and Spacey to be the devil, then they flip flop for the third act. It was a unique take on a pretty cliche genre so Wright ultimately gets props. But no desire to really watch it again or a sequel should they make one.

^Yeah but the Hamm thing is earned showing he really cared for the girl and when she died it was believable.

With Doc it just feels out of left field.
