Has anyone here ever actually dialed the "How's my driving?" number when you've noticed someone driving erratically or doing something stupid behind the wheel?

I wanted to call one this morning going down I40, but then I was like "Do I really want to potentially directly impact someone's employment?" Who knows what might have been going on with the driver.

But then there's the other end where what if you didn't make the call and that person ends up in a wreck that seriously hurts someone else?

I've certainly called. Driving is the most dangerous thing most people ever do, and it's not just dangerous to yourself but to other drivers, pedestrians, etc. No dumb motherfucker's job is worth the kind of hurt unsafe driving causes.

We've gotten several calls at my business related to a trucking a company in Virginia that must apparently drive terribly. We share a similar company name and have gotten multiple calls about a blue tractor trailer driving crazy, cutting people off, etc on interstates in Virginia. It's not us, we only have 2 trucks for shipping and they are smaller box trucks that rarely go to Virginia. I guess other drivers google the company name and our company pops up first so they call us.

But no...I've never called the "How's my driving" number.

Haven't done that because they didn't have a phone number but I did go on their facebook page to complain about a driver in a company car one time. I wouldn't have done that but he pissed me off by cruising in the left lane and then when I finally got to pass him he was texting.

the vast majority of these calls are from no-driving busybodies with nothing better to do with their time. most managers don't take them serious. don't waste your breath.

^^Then don't complain to any manager, ever, regarding one of their subordinates' behavior. If you're job includes driving, then you should perform that job to the best of your ability, just like any other job.

If a cashier picks up a cell phone and starts texting someone in the middle of my transaction, you better believe I'm going to let someone know. If an HVAC technician sent to repair my heat or AC doesn't know what their doing, I'm going to call the office and let them know that as well. How would be driving poorly for a job that requires driving be any different?

So you're basically saying any manager anywhere just doesn't care.

On a side note, I DID try to call the person in charge of Wake County Schools' "School Transportation" division, you know the ones where you see Ford Explorers and various other SUV's with the decal on the back window. I was behind one who was going 20 miles over the speed limit and blew two stop signs. I left about four messages with that person and never received a call back, which to me is also something not excusable, but what are you going to do? I tried.

That's not at all what I said. I said most managers don't care about these specific How's my driving? complaints because they get so many that are bullshit. They only participate in the program because it helps their insurance price.

And I generally do not waste my time complaining to any manager. I take my business elsewhere or just deal with it. Got better ways to spend my time. But if that's how you decide to spend your time, more power to you, brother. Thanks for keeping the streets a little safer.

I used to work for a construction company and drove a company truck. Quite often someone would call into the office to complain about one of the people/trucks (60+ vehicles on the road). Sometimes it was someone driving bad, sometimes it was because someone was picking their nose and the person calling thought it was gross

The receptionist that took the calls would just send out an email to the company stating someone called in to complain about vehicle number whatever and to stop doing whatever it is we are doing

The vehicle assignment list wasn't able to be accessed by most people so few people would know who drove what vehicles.

We have one truck with a number on it, and two without. We don't really care when somebody complains. They know when they fuck up, and they adjust (moved hanging things to see blind spots better) but they probably would have known anyway. Plus like, the guys been driving for 16+ years. If he's a shit driver that's not our fault... Maybe..

No but ive called a few commercial offices that have their phone number plastered all over the vehicle and chewed out owner/manager and threatened to call highway patrol (which often is also called).
