Can be, but doesn't have to be.

You get old, and you are content -- in a manner of speaking -- that just someone is there (as long as you don't dislike them), even if they don't bring you happiness and/or they are far from your ideal in some/many respects. This is especially true if you have children together.

At least you are not alone, and can actually do life's activities together, the mundane day-to-day ones as well as fun stuff. Fun shared multiplies, and daily chores shared get divided. Win-win, I suppose... at least that's what I tell myself.

^^ unhappy always means unhealthy in the long run (being unhappy reduces your lifespan, and an in extreme cases can lead to CVDs).

but i get your point, that unhappy doesn't necessarily have to mean the immediate kind of unhealthiness, i.e., frequent conflict/shouting/arguing, let alone mental or physical abuse.
