I have a pretty good question to start it all off. I want to replace the bulb in an old maglite I have. I just got back from Lowes, and I couldn't find any aisle with flashlight bulbs on it! Since Radio Shack doesn't exist anymore, where can i find a replacement bulb for my trusty maglite? (I know amazon will have, but I need it today, give me a brick and mortar locale).

Radio Shack in Crossroads. Or just get a new bulb from Lowes/Home Depot ( I know you said you looked, but I'm pretty positive I saw some the other day at the checkout lane endcap). Hell, Wal-mart may even carry them.

Lowes/HD have replacement bulbs for maglights. They are to the right of the registers but before tool world at my lowes (north raleigh by raleigh grande)


If you want a real flashlight, the best deal going is the BLF A6. I resisted carrying a 18650 light for a long time due to the bigger diameter of the battery compared to the AA lights, but the brightness and endurance are worth the upgrade.

I recommend the "5A" version which is 4000k light temperature, most people find the warmer light easier on their eyes, especially with the brightness. The higher temperature lights will appear brighter though.

and can you recommend a headlamp? i like the ones with the batteries in the back and an additional strap across the top of the head.

This is the one I use. Doesnt have batteries in the back though, its another 18650 light. I charge the battery using my desktop charger, so I can't comment on the internal charging thingy.

^^ I would say its much closer to being a Nitecore HC30 knockoff..

I have a HC30 also, but i hate the UI on it - Long press to shut off, short press to go to moon mode, which usually results in me leaving it on moon mode until battery shutoff.

I don't have a zebralight, I have wanted a H600 for awhile, but I havent been able to talk myself into pulling the trigger yet.
