I'm moving soon and have a crap ton of DVDs, TV box sets, and old PS3 games. Growing up in the DVD generation I have a strong tie to them, but also realize that I can count on one hand how many times I've watched anything on disc in the last 3-4 years. So besides donating them or trying to sell them one by one on craigslist is there another option that I could do to get something back for these things?

Man, I put all of my DVDs into a CD book, and threw away all of the DVD casings. Saves a ton of space. Then I had a project going for a while where I would rip the DVD and put the file on a home media server of sorts..... I never finished though.

I created a Plex server to house digital copies of all my disc-movies, then donated the physical dics to Goodwill. You can deduct them on your taxes for around $3 a pop, definitely made a difference in this year's return, though who knows how that'll change this year.

My uncle is a flea market seller, where he goes to yard sales and acts as the "clean-up" man. He gets $1 at most per DVD at the flea market. So your best bet is donating them and counting them at $3/unit.

decluttr is an app that lets you scan the barcode and it'll tell you the value...you can mail em in and they'll pay you. don't think they pay great, but what i sent in was mostly PS2 (yes, PS2) games so they probably would pay better for recent stuff.

can't remember what i got exactly. but maybe around $1/game and those were shitty PS2 games. i can't remember exactly, but feel like they paid for shipping too.

You could re-watch all of them. Report back to us once you've done so.

If you don't want to watch them, trash or donate them.

donating and counting them as $3 a pop is a great idea. But i feel like my Mission Impossible special collector's edition is at least $4.

I’m going to put all mine in a box, store them in the attic and forget about them until I move. Then I’ll probably just throw them away since I won’t feel like moving them.
