Oklahoma and Kentucky teachers are on strike.

And what's awesome about the Oklahoma strike is that they were offered a raise, but they turned it down because it took funds from other education pots. 20% of districts in Oklahoma are on a 4 day work week, class sizes reach 50-60 students, and textbooks are from the Clinton era.

Arizona is also threatening to strike:

Can't wait to see what retarded plan our politicians come up with to solve this problem. You can bet it won't involve any hit on the financial industry or taxes.

Of course not. It's speculated that the raise in WV will be paid for by cuts to other social programs. And Oklahoma already tried to do that, but teachers laughed it off and went on strike anyways, lol.

"Fiscal conservatives" always ask how we can pay for these things, and the answer is to move the top tax bracket back to where it was in the 50's. Boomers got their golden age and then took it away from future generations.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/10000-teachers-plan-descend-colorado-capitol-lawmakers-propose/story?id=54662604

As 10,000 teachers plan to descend on Colorado capitol, lawmakers propose jailing them if they go on strike

Quote :
" As thousands of Colorado school teachers get ready to descend on their state capitol this week to demand billions of dollars in education funding, lawmakers are proposing jailing them if they even consider going on strike.

The proposed law pitched by two Republican legislators threatens jail time for any educator caught "directly or indirectly inducing, instigating, encouraging, authorizing, ratifying, or participating in a strike against any public school employer." "

Lmao, this will never pass in Colorado, and in fact will probably cause the teachers to rally harder.

Fuck this country.

Republicans are giving raises to striking teachers — and making the middle class pay for them

Why should rich people pay taxes at all?! There are so few of them and they barely use stuff!

Unfair!

I bet the ROI for public education (portion of taxes that goes to education vs having reasonably educated workers) is pretty good for most companies. If business and political leaders still had vision in this country they’d be beating down the door to invest in public education.

[Edited on May 16, 2018 at 6:59 PM. Reason : Well technically they are, it’s just charter/online schools, so they can get their cut.]

This is sub optimal for workers but a sweet reward for corporations. Gorsuch is gonna make lots of money for the big man..

[Edited on May 21, 2018 at 10:19 AM. Reason : Totally worth it to fuck over working class for a generation to get anti-establishment Trump elected]
