I live way out in the country. No charter. The only internet here is DSL with att or hughesnet. I've been looking into the smarthub at Verizon but wondered if anyone had suggestions or different ideas. I don't plan on using smarthome devices, but would use phone and internet. I run 2 smart TVs, 3 tablets, and 2 phones on my dsl now and it sucks so bad I just use the mobile hotspot on my phone for the tablets.

I just use my phone.

Hughesnet/whatever other satellite internet companies you want to think about are literally the shittiest thing in existence.

Completely agree.

My phone doesn't have enough service to connect all of it reliably.

Sounds like you've already identified the best path forward with the Verizon hub thingy

My only concern is 8 GB data limits. With 2 TVs 2 phones and 3 tablets, how long can 8 GB last? After that they slow to basically dsl.

Yeah that's not gonna last long. You're gonna need an unlimited plan.

I have an unlimited data plan and just tether.

AT&T just setup fixed wireless in my area and it looks like a decent option for rural internet. See if you can get that.

Yeah people freak out when I tell them how much data I use on my phone. They're like "oh I have a 5gb plan and I've never came close to going over that" and I'm all like "yeah I hit 80 gigs last month".

But yeah streaming hd movies and TV shows will do that. Thank you based god for unlimited plans.

i got the AT&T fixed wireless installed. they put an antenna on my roof and pointed it at the cell tower. beats the shit out of a hot spot from my phone. i don't have to leave my phone in the window anymore and i can talk on the phone without losing my wifi. getting 20-30 down and 10-15 up. i guess speed depends on demand on the tower. pretty satisfied so far.

170 GB for $60/month. $10 for each additional 50 GB. only option in my area besides some satellite bullshit or some really slow dsl.

That sounds like a pretty good deal.

I just can't say enough how awful satellite internet is. No one who lives on the east coast should ever consider it.

That’s not bad. We use on average 500GB per month, but pay $100/mo

It would only be $20 more under your billing scheme
