I have no rational/moral grounds against cursing but sometimes in person particularly when an attractive woman does it I tense up in conversation 8/12/2018 1:24:06 PM

^^ perhaps it's the evolution of EMCE. I definitely didn't used to care about cursing around women. But these days, it seems like the women I hang around these days are women that have children, or are professionals, or just aren't the same scallywag ass hoes I used to chill with. 8/12/2018 1:44:49 PM

unless cursing is part of some emotional outburst or tirade, I just find it particularly tacky 8/12/2018 2:45:55 PM

Working at a school I have a pretty good filter around children. I also tend to filter myself around older folks like my grandparents or folks in higher positions than me.
I like to take the same stance about cursing as I tell the kids at the middle school. When you're sitting around with your friends, and it's just you and your friends, y'all can say whatever you want. But when you get around younger kids or your parents or teachers or just anyone that is considered "polite company" you need to use polite language.
So when I'm hanging out with friends, I say whatever I want, but I watch my language in polite company. 8/12/2018 3:44:25 PM

Children will pick it up in school, but there's no need to encourage it by doing it around them. We filter our music when our 5 year old is listening, and if it is too rough, we'll turn it off. Same with surrounding company. Luckily I haven't had to ask anybody to watch what they're saying yet, but if it were too egregious, then I wouldn't hesitate to ask someone to watch their language. 8/13/2018 11:31:18 AM

I don't either. And I've always been in awe of people who can just let them rip with their parents right there.
It just wasn't how I was brought up. 8/13/2018 12:07:21 PM

every now and then I ask my kids to tell me all the bad words they know. good to let them get it out of their system from time to time. also, I want to ensure that they at least know how to use them properly. 8/13/2018 3:14:35 PM

If I'm "cheering" passionately at a sporting event, I do make a point to not curse, because of the children. 8/14/2018 9:21:03 PM

I only let my kids curse at sporting events. otherwise, fuck that.
also, I curse around my wife all the time. she curses around me as well. It works for us, I guess.
