is there anybody that currently supports trump that will be swayed because he said the N word on tape? everybody that dislikes Trump will continue to dislike him...and him saying the N word will only further support their dislike for Trump and serve to support their stance that Trump's a bigot and a racist and a POS.

I just don't think it'll have any significant impact. We'll talk about it for a week, and then it'll just be one more piece of trash piled up on the landfill.

I honestly don't need to hear Trump on tape saying the N-word to know he is a racist. One can look at the actions he has taken throughout his entire life to come to the conclusion that he's a racist.

However, there are some people in this world that only think that someone is racist if 1) they say the N-word, or 2) they call someone else out for being racist. Some of those people might benefit from hearing the tape, but most probably wouldn't change their opinion.

If anything, the drama surrounding this particular WH has shown an obvious thread...that Trump, as a manager of people, is failing.

Lord knows what things high-ranking cabinet officials could come out and say about their president. I'm sure Clinton and Bush could have been toppled by leaks like this, but somehow they were able to command enough respect from their people for them to keep quiet about it.

Trump on the other hand - it's almost like he promotes disloyalty by demanding the loyalty he wants so badly.

No one should take a position in this WH with the expectation that it won't end badly though. So Omarosa playing this game she's playing....it is obviously for attention, and she's crying about it.

But back to the OP - someone made the point that even if DT did say the N word, there will be no repercussions from it. There's no law against it. The people that hate him will hate him more. The people that like him will dismiss it. At this stage in the game, I seriously doubt there is anyone left on the fence, waiting to see which side to take.

i don't think the tape is an issue for trump, i think it is relevant for all of the trump supporting republicans who will have to vacillate between continued support or statements condemning the language. it won't mean shit for trump, it could maybe have impacts on congressional seats (depending on timing)

This tape almost certainly exists... whether it sees the light of day is another question. Whether it will have an impact or not is also another question... i tend to agree with EMCE on this, there's some people that the symbolism of using the N-word is more impactful for them than racist actions or statements that don't use any slurs.

Also, as an aside, the President of the USA, the one pushing Iran towards Nuclear weapons, the one talking a back seat in the NK negotiations, the one realigning global trade alliances against the US that will have an impact for DECADES to come, is a reality TV show star. We live in a society where reality TV show stars are the people given the most power.

If you compare qualifications, Omarosa is more qualified than Trump to be President (not that either of them is qualified at all).

the n word illicits a stronger reaction and is a worse word but...I don’t see how this is any different than “grab em by the pussy”. Trump haters will point to it as obvious racism/misogyny and a sign that he’s unfit for office. People that support Trump will call it locker room talk, say it was taken out of context, and that it was leaked by a vidnicative, unreliable, former employee so why didn’t she leak it earlier obviously she wasn’t offended by it or she would’ve quit on the spot.

We know how this goes. It’s unfortunate that the POTUS continues to get away with this. But he will. And all the typical GOPers will call it shameful and will say “as somebody who has black friends and black family members I am appalled by this” (because it really takes knowing black people to understand why it’s bad). And after they say that, they will continue to support Trump’s agenda.

Wash, rinse, repeat for the next scandal in a few months.

I don’t think it’ll mean anything for congressional seats. They’ll come out and condemn his language. They’ll continue to support his policies and agenda that are inherently racist anyways. Voters will vote for them guilt-free because they said the right things, yet continue to be in lockstep with trump’s policies.

Yeah it hurt him in the polls and the Comey thing saved him. But what impact does that comment have on how people view Trump today? Did it have a lasting impact? what I mean is, the nation won’t turn on him in any kind of permanent, substantial way. People will be real mad about it (or pretend to be) and then he’ll still be a racist POS and his numbers will creep back up as this issue gets further and further from recent memory.

Only McCain has actually thwarted something Trump was trying to do, but the rest of the GOP has gone along with Trump all the way.

People need to vote November 6th and try to flip the House, maybe if a tape came out it would either get more people to come out and vote, or convince more people to stay home.

Also if you aren't registered to vote, the deadline is 25 days before the election on November 6th.

Sadly, it'll be a lot sooner than a few months, and I think that's the way he likes it.... literally almost every day he does or says something incredibly stupid, and every week or two something happens that would have been a huge deal in the past, but it's become the new normal.
