I'm looking to step up my Chino game for fall. Been checking out BONOBOS and Farah but haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet. Any recommendations for smart casual trousers not more than say, $125?

If I'm paying $125 for pants they better be made of gold. Or bitcoins.

My thinking is, buy 3-4 solid colors, never put them in the dryer, and enjoy years of stylish wear.

Banana republic has some pretty comfortable chinos is multiple colors. You can probably find them on sale if you're lucky.

haven't bought any of bonobos pants...but i really like their shorts and shirts. usually a bit pricy, but you can find discount codes occasionally. but i find the quality to be really good imo.

for pants i go generally go with the sutton fit (i think it's just a straight fit chino) from jcrew. usually can find pretty good online sales on jcrew or their factory site.

^^^agreed. chinos shrink like crazy in the dryer.

TragicNature check out Taylor Stitch. I've got a few pairs of their chinos and they're great. Definitely at the higher end of your price limit. They arrive long so you'll have to factor in cost for getting them tailored.

If you're wearing chinos every M-F for work it's worth getting something higher quality. For me, i wear these maybe once or twice a week and can usually go 2-3 wears before they start showing creasing or signs of needing a wash.

Taylor Stitch has been spamming my Instagram for awhile. Maybe I’ll check it out.

bonobos isn't high quality, it's not as bad as like old navy but they're not great (plus they always do those stupid pockets on the casual fit pants)

Definitely been pleased with some of their stuff in the past. Earlier this year, I bought two pairs of their summer weight chinos and was really disappointed. Even after ironing they didn’t look great and would go to complete shit after a few hours of wear.

As an aside, highly recommend these. More of an outdoor/cycling/little more casual that what I’m looking for pant, but the quality is right.

^Not sure what your style is but the Slim Fit is very slim. I personally like it, but if you like a little more room I would go with the Democratic.

i guess it has something to do with how they fit, but i hate how slim fit chinos get wrinkled behind the knee, they don't look good at the end of the day

I wear Dockers Easy Khaki Slim-fit flat front. I have about 6 pair in various colors. I like the fit better than the Brooks Brothers khakis I have. Good for cheap.

bonobos isnt quite as high quality as their price suggests but at the same time they're some of the best i've found for a reasonable price. They are the best off-the-rack fit I've had for chinos or dress pants. I've been buying from them for maybe 6 years and I've been satisfied.

Outside of their pants the fit of their button-ups is also really solid. I've gotten most of my short sleeve button ups and dress shirts from them for the past 3-4 years. The rest of their stuff is just too preppy for my taste.

I also almost moved to take a job with them 3 years ago at the HQ in NYC but didn't end up getting the position I was after.

Taylor Stitch is also a good option.

I am interested in this because I wear jeans shorts or a full suit. I like my dressy pants that I have bought here and there but am not much of a chino wearer atm. I just am not versed in the subject.
