I think it's a little dumb to buy into the media's narrative, because they have been so wrong about so many players recently. See: PG3, Kawhi, etc. Lebron going to LA was obvious, and that's the one thing people keep harping on.

KD is weird and sensitive and he's probably going to decide after the Finals, unlike other people who make up their minds way before the season even ends. That BS with Draymond was ages ago.

This is probably a dumb question. But in this era, is the “ruthless NY media” still a thing? Like...every highlight, blooper, interview, press conference, etc is widely available online and gets quickly picked up on twitter and other platforms. If KD goes to whatever the most boring, laid back franchise in the NBA is...he’s still under a microscope because he’s KD.

Yes, the NY Post or whatever will have their jokes and headlines...but how impactful is that really?

And that goes for any sport at this point - not just nba. And I’m just asking...not saying I’m right...but is the spotlight and media pressure in NY really that much worse than any other city if you’re one of the best players in your sport? KD won’t be able to hide from any pressure or spotlight anywhere. Because he’s KD.

but you are correct that the (inter)national exposure from twitter, espn, etc etc allows stars in smaller markets to be bigger names. and no longer does someone need to play in New York or LA just to get a bigger endorsement deal.
