I've recently started working from home, and the Staples piece of junk I have just isn't cutting it for 8+ hrs a day. Anyone have any recommendations? I'm aware of the Steelcase Leap and Herman Miller Aeron. Those seem to be the industry standards. But they're easy, I'm sure, for corporations to afford, but I don't want to spend 1200 for an office chair. Even used they're around $500.
Any other suggestions? 10/25/2018 11:13:16 AM |

I know it's Staples, but...

I've been sitting on this for about a month and I've been pleased so far. 10/25/2018 11:31:15 AM |

I'm honestly thinking about a Steelcase or Herman Miller after years of working from home in a shitty $250 chair. It's not that I can't afford it, but I have such a "that's a lot of money" reflex despite knowing the benefits. 10/25/2018 3:08:42 PM |

Same here. If you think about it, when someone works from home, they are spending more time in their office chair (if they use one) than any other piece of furniture. It is kinda crazy to think that we skip on good office chair furniture, but that reflex really does kick in. 10/25/2018 5:42:47 PM |

Is it yours or your company's?
What considerations went into your decision to get such an expensive chair? 10/26/2018 10:45:37 AM |

I loved my Aeron at my last job, but I have the this now at home, and there's not that much of a difference:

Look for used Aeron or SC chairs for sale on CL or other sites. I recall seeing some a few years ago for 1/2 price. 10/26/2018 11:17:37 AM |

^^My concern with buying these used is that they go up for sale by the lot when companies move or upgrade office spaces. People who sit on them for work in an office probably don't treat them like they would if they owned them personally, so I'm a little afraid to invest $500 in a used chair that may not have been taken care of. 10/26/2018 1:13:50 PM |

Yea I've had my eye on that chair. They've been hitting hard with ads for me everywhere I look when I'm online. 11/9/2018 1:51:44 PM |

I have a Fully Standing Desk ($800) paired with the Hag Capisco ($700). The setup is pricey but totally worth every penny! Been using the setup for a year and a half now. I stand 60 to 70% of the time and all my back issues have now disappeared.

I love my Serta chair (https://www.officedepot.com/a/products/304576/Serta-Smart-Layers-Verona-Manager-Chair/). I ended up paying like $110 for the $240 chair because of sale/promo codes.
Being petite, it took a long search to find a chair that say comfortably for 10+ hours. They have a variety of chair sizes, all very comfy. (https://www.officedepot.com/a/browse/serta-chairs-and-seating/N=5+593061&cbxRefine=593669&shopByFlag=true/) 11/12/2018 9:47:37 AM |

I also work from home and use one of these IKEA Nilserik chairs. it's cheap, compact (slides under my desk in my room when I'm not using it) and for me not having a back or armrests forces me to sit up straight(er)
