Talk about what you want for Christmas. Post you gift ideas. Are there gifts you're excited to give. etc... You get the idea.

I've heard Amazon fire sticks are pretty cool when you load the right stuff on them. Thinking about getting one of those. The house I just moved into has a projector screen that comes out of the ceiling so maybe a projector for watching movies. Projectors themselves don't really have much audio though so I'd have to get speakers too. And for those I'd need an A/V receiver too. So at that point that's like thousands of dollars of AV hardware which may be a little much for Christmas.

my dad went to first game at carter finley in 1966, i asked him if he still had a program or ticket stub, he said he didnt think about it. so last year i lucked out and found a program from the game on ebay and gave it to him. fast forward to a few months ago i found out chuck amato, who played in the 1966 game, is doing a weekly podcast at amedeos. we went ate pizza and got it signed. my dad was so nervous he froze up when chuck asked his name to write on it. haha

this year i got the 1974 sports illustrated with david thompson doing a hook over bill walton. my kid is really good at art so im having her do a drawing of the cover. not sure if it will be in one frame or two separate frames yet

^ that’s pretty cool. Sports are really dumb sometimes but the bonds and shared experiences they create can be really cool.

I like getting things that are small, disposable, or both. Anything else just ends up laying around eventually and gets tossed in the attic.

I have a 7 year old niece and 5 year old nephew who like popcorn. Last year I bought them some jiffy pop for Christmas. They enjoyed that.

Sheepskin rugs for sister and sister in law. Ordered these last month. Quality pelts and the price is right.

Anyone have any experience with those Lenovo Smart Display things?

Does it support hangouts or can it be paired to a phone to show notifications? If all it's for is Duo, Youtube, and showing everyone my calendar I'm not sure $99 is cheap enough.

[Edited on November 24, 2018 at 10:07 AM. Reason : V thanks - I had Lenovo Smart Display (+cam) and Google Home Hub (-cam) mixed up]

To be sure. Made in Sweden so import fees, duties, etc are part of the reason. Each garment is hand sewn so that's another factor. I've purchased several of their products for myself (200g top and bottom, 400g full zip top) and its worth it. Machine washable up to 160F. Won't shrink in the dryer, although I air dry mine. Naturally antibacterial. Spend $250 and never be cold again.

Noise cancelling probably won't do much for kid noises...noise isolating would be a better bet.

my mom gets harder and harder to shop for each year. I am thinking of just booking a cabin in the mountains for early spring and just inviting her join us on a long weekend trip as a gift. Not sure how that'll look under a tree...

I am getting so tired of getting my mom shit that's just going to accumulate dust on a shelf and then have to be re-homed or thrown out in a few years when I have to pack that shit up and move her to a retirement community. From now on: experiences or gift cards for dinner. Also a new phone, but mostly so she can keep up with me...makes it easier to talk her through the steps. She told my sister today she thinks she needs a Garmin because that's what her friends who travel use. Her same friends who have had their identity stolen multiple times because they give out their passwords and personal information over the phone to anyone who asks.

^thanks. I know a person who will abolutely lose their shit over this. loves the moon in a very obsessive way. Too expensive but It will be worth it to win xmas.

jerpin - ive dont things like this many times. Find a creative way to create tickets or a voucher. For example wanted to take my pop to a football game as a gift So i made tickets by finding one online and altering it to have the four games i knew i could make. Printed on photo paper so they looked legit and then included a note explaining they were for a full weekend trip to the game of his choice. Put em in a box with note. It gives something tangible and they get to keep it in the end as a memento.

How about some kind of comfortable lounge chair for a reader? I always find myself squirming and adjusting a lot to get comfortable holding a book. I suppose holding a kindle could be different though.

I was asked to come up with ideas on what to get the supervisors at work. Last year they got iPads. Any ideas on something just about anyone could use? $200-300. Gift cards are not an option.

My husband's company got them nice Marmot rain jackets one year with the company name on them in a non-tacky manner. I think they're getting Patagonia vests this year.

We decided to get something different for each individual. Something for the golf guy, something for the tech nerd, something for the fitness guy, etc.
