I disagree, SCar has enough talent to give them trouble it's just that SCar's schedule might just be the toughest in the nation playing 1/2/3 in Clemson/Bama/UGA in addition to the other ranked teams they'll play. With SCar probably not having much to play for nationally but yet still having top 15-20 talent and the game being in Cola, that could be a game after Thanksgiving.

Yes on the ACC though, they'll roll everyone if Lawrence is upright. You could take out one at every other position (WR/RB/OL/DL/LB/DB) and they probably still win the ACC as long as Lawrence is out there. If the only claim against them out there form opponents is that their backup QB is not Heisman worthy, you know they are stacked.

Latest scrimmage reportedly saw McKay and Hockman splitting first team reps and Leary is clear 3rd string.

Also sounds like Hockman played great and just adds to what I read on him gaining ground on McKay.

I expect McKay to get the start against ECU but bet Hockman splits series with him, probably 2 series each and rotate.

Thewolfpacker had a quote from DD that said “Hockman is more comfortable than he was during the spring”...which doesn’t tell us anything, really. And it’s also common sense that Hockman should show a better comfort level with more time. But aside from that there’s been nothing I’ve seen to indicate anything other than McKay having the inside track.

Getting mine from a couple of sources, but supposedly Leary is no longer getting any 1st team reps and it's just McKay and Hockman now. Expected to be something similar to Finley/McClendon where both get meaningful snaps with the 1s against ECU and see how both perform under game pressure.

My assumption is McKay starts, Hockman gets a couple of series, and then unless 1 is just clearly better than the other(ride the hot hand), McKay will get every chance to solidify the starting spot.

Also read that Knight is taking 1st team reps and that Person is practicing/healthy. Hopefully those 2 push each other all season but sounds like Houston has looked great in the traditional "3rd down back" role. Really hope we see some sets with 2 RBs on the field since Knight and Houston could slide out to WR without much issue.

Glad PP finally got on board with the Hockman info, haha.

This really feels like McClendon vs. Finley.

You have the returning player that is a dual-threat guy with all the tools to be a good starting QB vs the new guy coming in that has been through QB competitions before and is reportedly the more accurate passer. The difference here is that Hockman had to learn the offense where Finley already knew it, but I do think with Eli leaving that McKay is learning the offense a little as well.

I think McKay gets the start but I really wouldn't be surprised to see Hockman win the starting gig by ACC play.

Haha, well to be fair it's because until that last PP update no one seemed to buy into the Hockman hype/buzz I was hearing.

So many similarities. I really thought McClendon was going to win that job initially much like I feel about McKay. I think McKay makes sense behind a new OL with his running ability but we have a lot of talent at WR and I see it being a little like Clemson last year where they had too much talent at WR to have their weakest passer starting.

I think with Doeren not announcing the starter yet, he'll follow the same script as the last QB battle and split series. I'm just curious to see if he continues with the first couple of games or if one of them is actually able to take the job in 1 game. To be fair nothing I saw from McClendon in a game(aside from the Hurricane game) made me think it should have been a competition with Finley but then the reports were that McClendon looked great in practice. Little curious to see how the ECU game plays out and if one guy shines or if they both look good/bad.

i'm becoming more and more aware that those fuckers over there don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. They've become increasingly more wrong about certain recruitments. They did a write up yesterday of "Top 10 players whos stock rose" and included Derrick Eason as a DT and how he was poised to be a force in the middle. Today his position on gopack changes to OT and they quickly and quietly change the story to how hes made so much noise on the o-line this fall that hes rising up the depth chart. And it comes out today and hes not even on the depth chart. They've said all along that Brock Miller and Payton Wilson will share the duties at OLB, but Louis Acceus is listed as the starter as of today. I feel like alot of their information is wrong and I really question where the hell they're getting it from.

So while I was right that Hockman was pushing for the starting gig, I was actually wrong in that it would be a rotation the first game. Doeren specifically said he doesn't plan on doing a rotation and that he's going to let McKay play without any type of short hook/leash.

Though I'm sure the hope would be in the first 3-4 games to find some opportunities to get Hockman some reps in mop-up duty.

I like our starting OL but we are in pretty rough shape depth wise. Seeing 3 true FR on the 2-deep and a DT that just converted to OT in the last few weeks is a bit worrisome.

I don't subscribe to PP but if that defensive depth chart was pretty hammered out it seemed like the last 2-3 weeks save for the Eason news. Only surprised I saw on the depth chart was all the "ORs" at RB, Eason flipping to OT, and Gill winning the punting job.

I don't think Pack Pride is as bad as they used to be, mainly because the guys who used to run it started their own site at inside pack sports. Back in the day I was harassed and threatened by the mods on their message board for posting "premium" info on the free message board. This was information I received directly from a friend on the football team, but apparently that wasn't allowed because it was also something on their premium site. If you give IPS a single cent you can go straight to hell.

^^^How is the guy ending up the 2nd string QB with the starter being announced the week before the game not pushing for the starting gig? If Hockman wasn't pushing for the starting gig it would have been over weeks ago.

McKay is the safe option and given our new pieces on offense, it makes sense to play him. I also think Doeren wants to give him every shot to keep the starting gig and doesn't want to damage any confidence with a rotation.

I've watched one of the weekly FB Live streams from the PP guys and it was a bunch of nothing but clickbait comments trying to get you to go join their site. Last time I was a member of their site it was on the downturn and they were having some weird stuff going on with the staff(this was post Steve and James leaving). Think they had Corchiani Jr on staff but then he just disappeared and didn't post or say anything for months, no clue what happened with that.
