I couldn't agree more.

However... in environments where attendance is necessary (middle school, etc) I fully support this tech. Paying a teacher to take attendance is equally stupid.

This is actually awesome. At a professional school level we have required events that doctors and residents get credit for attending. There is apparently quite a bit of fraud in terms of residents signing off for other residents and such. They have tried using special codes that you text in from your cellphone, badge scanning, etc. But when some of these events have 100-150 people in attendance this is problematic. And honestly, they don't want to pay somebody to have to babysit them. So yea if that could work I could see that being a huge benefit.

I think attendance in college can be very useful for the professor, it just shouldn't be mandatory or count against someone. I though colleges were using rfid for this already
