So... was this was clearly handled inappropriatly by management, yes. But was it handled appropriately by customer? Not making assumptions. Just wondering if an “im getting this shit paid for because there was a weird looking flake in a cup... ohhh uhh uhh!!!!” came across... or if it was appropriately handled like “excuse me can i speak to with a manager... this is not acceptable and id like to discuss” without causing a scene. Not saying that the restaurant was right but if the former is the story I can see weaker rationale battling in both directions. Either way, Would have been better for reataurant to suck it up and take the hit but doeant make the complaint valid. And crab managers response was shit. Might as well have said nothing than sorry not sorry.

^yeah...there isn’t much context given for their part. Calling the cops on a customer in this situation is absolutely wrong and ridiculous, but refusing to pay for an entire meal because there’s something in your drink cup isnt exactly something I would call reasonable. Of course this is all just speculative given the limited details. If it was some truly nasty shit in the cup, could be warranted, either way sounds like a piss poor manager

Owner is srsly fucking this up right now, blaming all of his other employees. They are posting fucking pictures of invoices for cups, like anybody gives a damn. It's a shit show. CassTheSass has said she's gonna tell her next-door-neighbor, a WRAL investigative reporter, what is going on.

^ Apparently there was no manager on duty at the time. It sounds like DavidBaby asked to speak to somebody, and they kind of blew her off. They've said that they have had trouble with people walking out without paying (WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU SAY THIS) and so their employees were reacting to it from that perspective. I could see it reasonably escalating from "hey, there's mold in my cup" to "fuck this, I'm not paying for shit" if an inexperienced server/hostess fucks it up bad enough.

Again, please accept my sincerest apologies." No excuses, no reactions, no other businesses.
2) Shut up. Seriously, don't say another word to anyone except Erica.
3) Shut your restaurant down for at least a week. Personally visit it, and make sure that every last inch of it is cleaned from top to bottom. Throw away all of your food and supplies and purchase new ones. Replace the drink and ice machines and all drink lines.
4) After you have cleaned the place, personally call the NC Health Department. Tell them what happened, and request a new inspection immediately. If you don't get at least a 97 rating (excluding ServSafe), keep cleaning and training until you get that 97. This is the ONLY way that people will believe you know how to run a restaurant.
5) After you have done all of this, THEN you can consider selling this particular property."

David Baby here...

We were cool, calm, and collected. Asked to speak with a manager because the "acting manager" waitress was being very rude about the situation. My mother did not threaten to walk out on a tab. We sat there with no intention on leaving until we got an apology from them. The tab was $41 total. She offered to pay for my meal, but didn't eat hers because she was grossed out. They called the cops instead of chatting about it.

No one got loud until the kitchen manager walked out and told me that my face is on camera and he'd get me no matter what.

Diva. Glad you clarified the details. No sarcasm. There was a little grey area where one could feel the slightest bit of shadow of a doubt about how this was handled. From his own responses and your explanation this guy clearly has no place running a customer facing business and it's no wonder his staff has no problem mirroring his behavior and attitude.

I bring my own moldy qtip to dip in just in case. I also request the gluten on the side when somone asks for gluten free. There are starcing kids in africa that would kill for that gluten!
