The real problem is the airline who sold the same 6 inches of space to two people, and expect them to sort it out

is there something I'm missing? Dude is a prick and deserves the any shit he gets for it. Why is there hate on the lady? Airlines provide reclining seats. It's the passenger's preference to use or not. End of story.

Unless he didn't know his seat assignment in advance, he already knew his seat wouldn't recline and that he would have to suck it up. I've been in that situation before. BFD. Be an adult about it.

On a plane, I think you should realize everyone is at least moderately uncomfortable, and you should just deal with THAT and not try to make yourself more comfortable at someone else's expense. Seats should not even be able to recline. If someone does recline, I don't freak out about it, but I would generally not do it to someone else.

I can’t imagine a situation where I would recline an airline seat unless nobody was sitting behind me.

Continue your e-fight here, guys:

https://twitter.com/steelersfanOG/status/1226346795741143040

Several hundred, perhaps thousands, of tweets in reply to that female passenger who filmed the man behind her being a jerk.

Story for those who missed it:

I just watched the video. LOL that this was described as "punching" and that the woman claimed she had headaches or whatever.

"“He was angry that I reclined my seat and punched it about 9 times — HARD, at which point I began videoing him, and he resigned to this behavior,” the woman, Wendi Williams, wrote on Twitter."

According to her, he stopped punching when she started recording.

I don't care how hard you punch a seat, it's not going to injure the person sitting in that seat.

When I was flying to Poland, some asshole put his seat all the way back as soon as we took off. Then when we reached cruising altitude, he stood up and just wandered around the plane chatting with people.

After 15 mins, I pushed his seat forward myself.

people who get angry about reclining passengers are the same ones who get angry about drivers using the full capacity of roads, including merge lanes.

As soon as the person in front of me does, yes. On long flights, definitely, I want some sleep. I try to be nice about it though.

On principle, everyone should be allowed to recline.

Unfortunately, airlines have made reclining a privilege, not a right.

Unless the seats change, no one has the "right" to recline. It is a privilege to be granted, either through paying extra for a different seat, or politely asking the person behind you.

You could even politely ask the flight attendants to help you find a seat in front of a tiny person.

So, until you (the royal you) DO something about the current state of air travel, your choices are be polite, be U-P-P-G-R-A-Y-E-D, or be shunned for being a cunt.

I must fly on some special airline then, because every flight I'm on, everyone around me reclines their seat. As do I.

Curious, do you fly for work?

I have a theory that it's more common for recreational flyers.

^^ yup

I plan on reclining hardcore on my next few non-essential, deeply discounted flights. I'll even go around reclining all the empty seats, just for fun.

I don't which dinghy planes you fly on, but other than a couple of domestic US flights ever, I have only ever taken international flights on mostly non-US airlines. On such planes, every passenger is allowed to recline; why wouldn't they be?
