Do teachers really teach about Hamilton the man outside of a very in-depth discussion about the country's early history? I think the number of school kids/teens that can name statesmen that were not president pre-Andrew Jackson is pretty low. "There's Ben Franklin, that Hamilton guy, Sam Adams has a beer named after him, uhhh...John Hancock - the Donald Trump of the era".

To your point, not exactly new, Selma sought to downplay LBJ's role a lot didn't it?

Fess Parker's Davey Crockett is also on Disney+

Probably much less factual than Hamilton.

Oh absolutely not, this has been a problem for a long time with basically any historical movie where liabilities are taken.

But to go with your example of Selma. So let's jump 5 years down the road and you poll the kids that are in the 8th-12th grade at that point, what % do you think will have seen Hamilton(and/or listened to the soundtrack) and what % do you think will have seen Selma? My guess is 60-70% will have seen or heard Hamilton and maybe 20-25% will have seen Selma.

It reminds me back when ig movies like Titanic or Saving Private Ryan came out and everyone saw those movies several times and felt like historical buffs.

I actually never watched Saving Private Ryan from beginning to the end. Usually stopped at the opening scene of Normandy landings and couldn’t continue. Watched Forest Gump many times tho.

I knew about Hamilton's efforts with the national reserve, and I knew that Burr killed him in a duel. That was it.

I also knew far more about John Jay than the musical mentioned, but other than him and Franklin yeah I don't think I can name another significant non-president until Henry Clay.

Hamilton is much more true to life than Rudy, which is almost completely fictional.

Hamilton might be the only Federalist I can name other than John Adams. Supreme Court Justice John Marshall was a Federalist, but he didn't serve in Congress or was a statesman of course.

Thinking of random others that did not become president without using the benefit of the internet (not counting Burr of course, history's most famous vice president that never became president):

Daniel Webster
Elbridge Gerry (from whom we get the term gerrymander when he had a district drawn in his state of Massachusetts to ensure the election of a person from his party, the district was drawn in a political cartoon to resemble a salamander, Gerry died in office as vice president, I think for during Madison's term)
another VP that died in office, George Clinton
I think there was a Charles Pinckney although I can't tell you anything about what he did.

I have a book at home of the Constitution and writings of the era including the Federalist Papers that I want to read through at some point.

Pinkney was the Federalist candidate for president twice (lost once to Jefferson, once to Madison).

Also Loki plot is good but I don't know if Hiddleston kinda sucks or if he's mailing it in a little, especially action scenes.

There’s a part of me that agrees with you, but another part telling me that he’s the same as he’s always been and that character lends itself well to small doses in movies but not so well to this much focus

Yea, I feel like I liked him more in other roles, but maybe those are roles that weren't necessarily supposed to be charismatic

SEMI SPOILERS FOR LOKI

It's kinda funny that the finale is essentially just 30 min of spoken exposition

SPOILER OVER

The indiewire review also took umbrage at all the exposition. In the last episode as well as all the others. I'm looking forward to more of the person they revealed at the end.

^^i think it was pretty impressive. It was exactly what you described, but I still found it quite engaging, compelling, and entertaining.

^not sure if you are just being vague with your wording to avoid typing spoilers, or if you don’t actually know who that is

It was more like a Game of thrones, where the main event is really the 2nd to last ep. and they setup next season with a few WTFs in the last ep.

What’s there to say? Was a mediocre trailer for a lower tier character. I’ll also definitely be watching it.

The change between how good the last two episodes have been and how awful the rest were is crazy. There must have been some direction or production changes of some kind.

not sure which Lone Wolf & Cub choice Grogu will make, but even if he decides to continue training, we have to see him in that armor at some point.

Hahah are you serious? Yeah there was a change, they stopped making the book of Boba Fett and just made 2 new episodes of the Mandalorian.

With that said I thought the first 4 were fine. Definitely a story that’s been done before (dances with wolves, avatar, etc). But for an extremely casual Star Wars fan (I have no sacred feelings towards the originals the or series, they mean nothing to me), they entertained me through a day.

Yeah I've enjoyed the BoB episodes. ^Interesting to hear that you have liked them a lot as a casual fan. I thought fan boys would all love them.

I have seen criticism about all the flashbacks, but I haven't had any issues with that. Yeah they could've done it all chronologically starting with the Sarlaac but I think it's worked so far.

I’m aware it’s essentially two different shows, but I assumed the people in charge of them were mostly the same and they should be of similar quality, which is not what I’ve been experiencing.

I guess really my surprise is at how bad I think Boba Fett has been. His acting is not fantastic to start but that’s not it. That “car chase” scene through the city was downright awful, it looked like they were going 6 mph

I don't like the marvel show leaving a critical plot point for post credits, especially when they say it's only 1 season.
