He’s saying that the scientists who believe it is natural evolution are suspect and have financial or personal motivation to lie as a group (which is patently false to anyone who knows any scientists — they want right answers even if it goes against their prior beliefs or statements) and that the scientists who believe it was a lab leak are inherently more virtuous for other nebulous reasons.

I have no knowledge of how phylogenetic trees are built but it doesn’t seem unreasonable to me an old strain is floating around, until one of the very end stage mutations make it virulent.

If a lab Leak resulted in millions of people dead around the world, that’s extremely serious and every researcher on the planet is going to want to know for sure. There’s no dearth of information here, you can literally throw a rock and find a Covid sample if you want to. We can wait for peer reviewed and replicated studies. We don’t have to rely on randos on Twitter making assertive claims.

That being said I do wonder the ethics of some mad scientist engineering a version of Covid with no harmful viral activity but still triggering an immune response to build antibodies. Basically like a vaccination that spreads itself. This has happened with computer viruses and if bio tech now is sophisticated enough (I don’t know if it is) to target this type of evolution, would be hard to stop someone from releasing it…

Got the bivalent booster yesterday and it kicked my ass. All 3 previous shots kicked my ass too but this was way worse for whatever reason. Spent half the day in bed with a massive headache, fever/achy all night.
