Kind of underwhelmed by the launch. The ratchet and clank was the most interesting, really showed off the ssd loading speed claims.

Otherwise nothing spectacular. I’m hoping they have some VR announcements up their sleeves. The 3D camera kind of hints at this but who knows...

While we know that hdd's definitely have a limited lifespan, I've worked with servers that have had the same hard drives spinning for 15 years. I wonder what the TBW on the ssd's in PS5's are? And I wonder how many writes take place during typical game play? That would be the main determining factor.

During typical game play? I would assume practically 0.

Actually, never mind, just saw that the thing only has 16 GB RAM, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was using the SDD to compliment it

New update today will let us move PS5 games to external drives for storage only: https://www.polygon.com/22381488/ps5-system-software-update-external-usb-storage-firmware-release-date

I don't have a big PS5 library yet, so it's not that big a deal to me, but I know that's coming. Heck, I have a good chunk of my console storage taken up by my PS4 library to begin with--the console-exclusive storage stuff, I mean, not games!

Only question for me is whether it'd be faster to copy from USB to system storage or just download the games again.

I got one but mostly play psvr games which only get a frame rate boost so far. Not really any must have ps5 games yet. I would say if you have a ps4 pro don’t even bother

I agree there isn't a particular game out that justifies buying the console, but if you're planning to upgrade anyway and are using a PS4 Pro, you might as well get one. The power consumption is much lower than the PS4 Pro, and you'll get some nice boosts on certain titles. Ghost of Tsushima runs at 60 fps.

The only tradeoff I can think of is if you have a 1080p display, the PS5 doesn't seem to have the PS4 Pro's supersampling mode.
