Not suggesting it is wrong, but want to state isn’t it normally a requirement that adopting father is free of crime etc? I feel like if illegal jumped through the hoops and paid all the fees etc, if they tried to become a citizen and had dui, they’d be denied.

But someone with same issue could get a kid? Idk i might be totally wrong

Adoption isn't like going to the pet store and picking which one you want. There are loads of waiting periods, interviews, character screening, etc. A single man with potential drinking issues wouldn't be at the top of the list

I'm way too tired/lazy to actually Google/read anything about it, but if these are state charges, he's probably going to get away with it and not really face any meaningful consequences. If they're federal charges, he's less likely to weasel his way out of it, but I think a lot of people forget how many wealthy white men routinely get away with shit like this.

^ not exactly an encouraging sign for Gaetz, but I actually still think he's going to skate/get away with it, either by taking a ridiculous plea deal that only rich white dudes would ever be able to get (inappropriate contact with a minor/community service/bs slap on the wrist), or by having the gaul to actually take it to trial and turning it into a slut-shaming spectacle, attacking the character/reputation of the underage females, resulting in a hung jury/mistrial/acquittal/whatever other "miscarriage of justice" can be made into a Netflix docuseries.
