He was probably the biggest "name" hire we could have made.

Worked for the Kentucky for a long time even as a HC for three years, the Browns, and Urban Meyer.

Looks like a good hire on paper.

With him being an alum, it would make a lot of sense, but he appears to be a little further down on their list right now.

Seems top 2 choices are Malzahn and Brian Johnson(was OC for UF and just hired as Eagles QB coach). Two other names I've seen mentioned are Tom Herman and Jamey Chadwell.

They are pretty flush with cash right now with the $6m in buyouts from UT on their AD and HC.

Looking at OOCC, Mississippi State is obviously a replacement of the game we lost this year, but the others I think we had beforehand. They should be pretty winnable (knock on wood). USF went 1-7 this year and hasn't really made any noise to show they're improving. Furman's playing in the spring so it's hard to know *exactly* where they're at. They went 8-5 in 2019 and are one of the better teams in the SoCon, but, it is the SoCon. Louisiana Tech went 5-5 this year so they should be pretty beatable.

Conveniently enough, Mississippi State's only game before us is against Louisiana Tech so we should get a nice preview of both teams.

Playing Clemson 4th on the schedule is kinda tough, but hopefully the MSST game will whip us into shape for it. Not that I expect a win or anything, just, ya know, not getting murdered would be nice.

I believe when it was schedule before, they said it was to be able to get a marquee TV slot. I do know a lot of people are off on Black Friday.

i mis-remembered, i thought we had done it a couple times in recent years. it was done recently, but i guess just once.

either way...i'm fine with it. there are several black friday CFB games most years. like ^ said, you can potentially get better tv and time slots with fewer games on that day.
