What's with these end-of-episode wrap ups with dumb commentary from the show runner about what the episode was about?

I'm most annoyed with this on shows like Westworld and the various Walkings Deads

the showrunner is like "In this episode we did ______."
and I'm like "If you'd done a good job of it you wouldn't have to tell me but now I know who to blame so thanks for owning how much you suck."

Show, don't tell, dipshit.

Do the Cliff's Notes autoplay at the end of the book?
