There’s an incredible psychological overlap between

-Blaming the Refs/John Swofford/NCAA/“UNC deep state” every time your team shits the bed
And
-Blaming minorities for everything bad that happens to you or your community.

It allows one to never have to critically review themselves/their teams’ inadequacies, instead preferring to believe in their/their teams’ god given flawless superiority.

That place turned me off to NC State athletics. Their off topic board is basically complaining about minorities and the latest reactionary takes. Pretty much echo chamber where they reassure themselves that they’re right about their worldview. Few people on there who are white nationalists.

There used to be a guy on the Wolfpacker board that was basically advocating for Christian holy War. Eventually they shut down all political talk on there. That was prob 5-10 years ago though

It's an interesting safe space they've carved out for themselves there. The cognitive dissonance is remarkable. Couple of them, I think, are just intellectually disabled who consume right wing content and post all day to reaffirm those ideas with others.

The political discourse is very limited and becomes predictable.
- Ideas they don't like are [liberal/Marxist/Leftist/Communist] (these terms are used interchangeably)
- Racism doesn't exist and if it does, it's against white men. There's almost an eagerness to want to be the victim. They claim the "other side" makes everything about race yet race related topics are usually the most popular.
- No nuanced discussion or understanding about topics. Ideas fall into discrete bucks. Good vs evil, us vs them, red vs blue. They either don't understand history or context or pretend not to care.
- They feel they are not "sheep" who follow the "MSM." They spend all day reacting to topics from the media and mostly have the same opinions.

Same. Haven’t been back to PP at all since the months prior to 2016 election. It was bad and getting worse then. I can only imagine that it’s continued to get worse.

I think State fans tend to have a bad reputation. Political leanings aside, it’s probably pretty deserved. PP, even the general sports stuff, was always disappointing to read

I blocked PackPride about 2 years back. I believe he is doing active harm to our name, recruiting and his entire worldview actively works against NC State's educational mission.

But then again, it's totally in-line with the knuckle-dragging element of our fanbase who only care about 2.5 sports (always crying about UNC/Duke basketball, despite the actual UNIVERSITY kicking UNC's ass all over the place academically/flagship for the past decade) and view our teams as their personal property, demanding their needs for a pound of flesh be made.
