Taking off your shirt to celebrate in a game you end up losing should be a red card

What in the actual fuck is Chelsea's problem? A short blip was one thing, but god damn. Way too much money/talent in that team to be floundering around like a mid-table also-ran.

Terrible manager and weird philosophy?

Lampard was obviously a terrible short-term hire, but they were ass before then too tbf. I saw he has like 1 win in his last 20 games in charge though. I think you have to try to be that bad, if he didn't try at all and just sat on the sideline at training and matches jacking off they (Everton and Chelsea) could have won 3 or 4 at least over that same period.

It's funny to see fans bitching about the new owner on Twitter, the same guy who spent $Texas on new players to appease said fans. They clearly are going to have to clear out some bodies in the summer, and hire somebody who has a god damn clue what to do with the incredibly talented roster on the books.

^Yeah that has frustrated me, they act like the club had a choice. They had to be sold or face going under like Pompey. Clearlake came in, Christensen had already declined to sign a new contract Rudiger was going to leave unless the new owners massively overpaid his wages.

Clearlake clearly made mistakes especially in the summer window, getting in bidding wars with Barca and losing on everyone of them meaning you had to go to backup and backup backup signing. Signing Raheem Sterling.

Mass sell off is needed, and they will need to bring in a striker, and defensive mid. IMO Gallagher, RLC, Pulisic, Ziyech, Sterling, Auba, Azpi, and Kova should all be sold. They are going to lose money on all but Gallagher and RLC but they aren't the future. I would like to resign Mount but I think he wants out which is sad considering he said he wanted to be club captain one day, so thats more profit.

Sad to think if it wasn't for Tuchel we would be in the relegation zone fighting for survival (I know we are still not mathematically safe but the chances of relegation are still miniscule)

Going under would serve Chelsea right for taking all that Russian blood money for 20 years.

meanwhile the Gooners had their most successful seaon in almost 20 years and they are still going to end up with the same amount of trophies this season as Chelsea.

The race for fourth place might become more entertaining than the battle for first place.

^^United's GD really could come back to bite them

Millwall bottled it, hard to believe Sunderland gets a chance to move back up the big boys after dropping down to league 1 5 seasons ago.

Counting on Chelsea and maybe Fulham?? to take points off ManU.

And Brighton to not hold up to their brutal run in.

Liverpool have an easy run in but absolutely must win out.

Maybe if your owner spends another £600m and fires a few more managers you can finish above Brighton, Villa, and Brentford next year.

All the uniteds combining to make the top 4 battle a tad more suspenseful.

Unfortunately Chelsea likely needs to have a performance to truly make it down to the wire.

THREE-PEAT!!! Arsenal gave City an early Christmas present. I suspect some of City's players will be hungover tomorrow (e.g. Grealish), but the team won't need to be at full strength to beat Chelsea.

Pep started more guys than I would have today, I'll give him semi-credit for that one for at least putting out a half-strength squad.

I'd have put the U-23 team out there. The game literally means jackshit to both teams.

Let's see what they do with the two cup finals, I suspect they win them both but crazy shit can happen in a one-off.

4.16 expected goals is the highest xG a side have registered in a game without winning it in the Bundesliga this season."

Dortmund wasted a chance to finally break Bayern's stranglehold on the Bundesliga. They held a two point advantage before the final match. But today they drew against Mainz and Bayern beat Koln with a late goal to win their 11th straight title.

Odd seeing coaches take jobs at former rival clubs, though it seems to be more common lately (see Tuchel, Mourinho, and Benitez).

Quote :
"Mauricio Pochettino has signed a three-year contract to become the new Chelsea head coach. The Argentinian is in Spain but expects to start at Stamford Bridge next week, with the official announcement on his appointment expected in the coming days."

Soccer casual here so excuse the dumb question but

Pickford was receiving treatment for what looked like nothing significant. Seemed like he was clearly milking the clock. But…what’s the advantage there because there’s obviously gonna be like 10 added minutes now? I get the time wasting of being slow to line up or slow to throw the ball in or whatever. But I don’t get the faking/embellishing an injury to waste time since it’s gonna be added back

I thought he had a dislocated finger that had to be snapped in and taped up or something. Minor injury but one a GK can't just get on with.

Otherwise though, it never seems like refs truly add on all the stoppage time, but that's just anecdotal by me. If you're down 4 min and the ref adds 3, that's a win.

Sometimes it's done to disrupt the other team's rhythm/momentum when they're leading but their goal is getting bombarded by the opponent, like a coach calling a timeout in basketball.
