How does one get ads on Gmail? Not that I want them. . .

they're just showing up in the inbox(es) appearing as if they're an email, but there's no delete button unless you actually click on the ads

at least that's what it's doing in my gmail

you almost definitely have some kind of unwanted browser extension or adware installed
