I find his credibility to be quite lacking. We rank 106th in the nation in plays of 20+ yards this year. Even in 2021 with Leary (and Emezie, Bam, Person) we ranked 48th. (Those are just raw numbers, not adjusted for plays per game. If somebody could find those stats that’d be cool too)This shit is painful to watch. I know things are different now with an FCS transfer QB. But we don’t run the ball with much consistency. We can’t stretch the field at all. We have no real offensive identity. I think we want to be known as a run-first team but that’s not what we actually are. Even last year, i felt our offense lacked creativity and lacked identity but Leary and Emezie would bail us out. This sounds very basic. But other teams scheme guys open. Even against good defenses. We just can’t seem to find many easy yards at all. Even our successful plays are rarely something that fools the defense and gets a guy wide open with a chance for a big gain.

Creditability, bad.
10/17/2022 8:23:11 AM
We definitely are too vanilla on offense. I think Beck's schemes are easy to figure out but if we can't throw the ball effectively why would any defense not stack box and press the receivers. I don't need to see a grad transfer from an FCS school run this offense. We need to give the MJ a chance other than a couple of plays that he got Saturday. We have this week off before VA Tech on Thursday get him his reps and lets see what we got, now that there is no chance we are going to the ACC Title game (slim as it was)
10/17/2022 8:33:44 AM
Yeah unless Morris is just way behind right now and you don’t wanna shatter his confidence, I feel like he’ll eventually need to be getting significant reps. He’s a true freshman so it makes sense that he’s behind Chambers. Unless we think we can still go like 9-3 with Chambers at QB (I don’t think we can) then you don’t gain a ton by sticking with Chambers over Morris since Chambers is gone after this year. But if Morris is just not ready then it’s hard to throw him to the wolves and take your lumps. That could set him back.
10/17/2022 8:52:35 AM
One of the reasons why he was ran out of Texas was having talent and being very bland on offense.I remember when he was hired and all of the Texas fans saying "Good luck with Tim "screen" Beck. Now I see why he has that nickname. He's likely a good QB coach just not a great offensive coordinator.

Incredibly conservative offensive play calling vs a bad team. Take a shot downfield. Do something. This is maddeningIt’s also just a weird type of conservative. Almost exclusively screen passes and QB runs. Very very very few RB runs mixed in[Edited on October 27, 2022 at 8:39 PM. Reason : A]
10/27/2022 8:38:53 PM
Morris is getting the ball down field! Leave him in!
10/27/2022 9:08:49 PM
We play every game as if scoring 10 points will be enough to win. That’s not how football works in 2022. I don’t care if you have 2021 UGa’s defense. You still gotta figure out how to score 20+ in a game. Good offense beats good defense in modern CFB. But I don’t think our coaches know that
10/27/2022 9:49:10 PM
What do we have to lose at this point?
10/27/2022 9:54:58 PM
Fucking run the triple option for all I care. It’s miles better than what we’re doing
10/27/2022 9:58:31 PM
Play calling didn't do him any favors but don't think we need to see Chambers again
10/27/2022 10:10:32 PM
Agreed. Chambers offers very little since it’s his last year of eligibility. If there were a scenario where we actually had something to play for (division title, 10 wins, whatever) and Chambers gave us a chance to achieve it then I get it. But gotta hand it to Morris. He’s raw but showing potential. And hopefully this experience serves him well
10/27/2022 10:14:20 PM
The only explanation for this abysmal offensive play calling is the strength of our receiving corps last year and Leary's accuracy when plays break down?
10/27/2022 10:24:00 PM
Definitely think Leary and Emezie bailed us out a lot last year. Our offense was still conservative last year and not very explosive. Remember how ugly the O looked against a bad UNC D for like 58.5 minutes last year? So yeah I think the WRs just aren’t great and that probably is part of it. And DSK isn’t playing so that hurts the run game. But I swear…it’s like we just make things hard on purpose. We rarely ever get yards after catch. We just very rarely get anything easy on offense. Constipated is the only way I can describe it.
10/27/2022 10:27:25 PM
I’ll say it. Extend Beck?
10/27/2022 10:44:01 PM
I HAVE FAITH HE WILL NOT GO ULTRA CONSERVATIVE HEREFAITHI was wrong but maybe it will work?? [Edited on October 27, 2022 at 10:55 PM. Reason : No]
10/27/2022 10:52:05 PM
But that’s thing! Conservative isn’t necessarily always bad, I guess. Houston is a decent RB and he’s gotten tough yards this drive. Why not use him more early in the game instead of QB runs? Our first half version of conservative is 8 QB runs, 2 hand offs, and 13 screen passes. There’s no rhyme or reason!
10/27/2022 10:59:36 PM
I think Beck doesn't realize you can call a run and a down field pass on the SAME drive. Thinks you have to pick one.
10/27/2022 11:01:23 PM
I think Beck was trying to Princess Bride Vizzini logic his way into getting the second half -- absolute garbage tier play calling to get VT to play some soft Cover 4 or sum all game, just to open things up in the second half fourth quarter and it ... kinda worked?jk I won't give him that much credit. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut.
10/28/2022 8:22:46 AM
^thats what makes no sense about it. Because the playcalling has been equally bland/conservative all year. So he didn’t wanna show too much on film for the first 7.5 games of the year so that he could finally unleash something in the 4th Q of the 8th game? Being down 21-3 obviously necessitates change and desperation in play calling. But I think he called the first 3 quarters of the game just he intended to. Part of it can be blamed on not trusting the QB and WRs. And DSK being out changes our run game. But most of it falls on Beck imo. So we don’t trust the QBs but we ask them to run themselves or pass every single play rather Than letting Houston get carries? That kinda doesn’t make sense. We don’t trust the OL to pass or run block but we never do anything to roll out our QB or get the pocket moving to one side to offset bad blocking. That doesn’t really add up either. We don’t trust our WRs to get open on the outside downfield so instead we just throw screen passes that go no where all game? That isn’t that only option when you can’t/don’t throw downfield. It’s just bizarre stuff. I’m not a big X and O expert, clearly. I’m open to hearing explanations from somebody that is smarter than me. Because to the untrained eye this looks just really really bad and dumb. [Edited on October 28, 2022 at 8:39 AM. Reason : A]
10/28/2022 8:35:25 AM
The play calling for the first 3 quarters last night was maddeningly bad. Everyone in the stands around me were equally frustrated.
10/28/2022 9:30:32 AM
Guy...
11/12/2022 6:43:43 PM
I feel like he did a really good job over the last couple of years especially when Leary was in and out of the lineup. However, this year has been pretty bad since the first game against ECU.
11/13/2022 7:46:48 PM
4th and inches in the 4th quarter and he calls a toss outside?? Then 3rd and 12 in 4th quarter and we try a screen for a loss. SMH.

Just no creativity or intelligence on short yardage

Beginning to worry he’ll get poached by a bigger program. Oh no. Please. Don’t.
11/25/2022 8:06:01 PM
My dream scenario: some low level G5 school hires him away as a new HC, so we need to get a new OC to replace him. A good match who is known for a passing affinity and who is in need of a new job thanks to Matt Rhule being hired in Nebraska (another coach who, like his former HC at Pitt, Narduzzi, is run heavy -- he probably wouldn't want to be kept, even if Rhule could bring himself to hire someone who's not 'one of his guys'). Bada bing, bada boom, we have a good passing qb in either Finley or Morris, whoever wins it next year, with a coach who likes to pass and had an interesting and good scheme
11/26/2022 12:19:14 PM
I think morris is def the guy next year
11/26/2022 12:25:27 PM
I'd bet pretty good money on Finley transferring out. Maybe he stays and is content to play backup/3rd string for the rest of his career, but I'd expect him to move down to FCS/D2 and play and get a masters degree. In any case he's not going to be the starter next year LOLLike Morris is already waaaaaay better as a guy who has been on campus for <6 months compared to a guy who's been in the program for 3 full years. There wouldn't be a competition.]
11/26/2022 12:45:44 PM
Chanbers didn’t work out, but Morris and Finley were solid. Will give Beck some props for having to coach so many QB’s this year.

Graham is indeed a fool based on the tweets I’ve seen from him. But I’m cool with Beck taking the Coastal job
