You know what it is. Do you have a work spouse?
I don't think I have a work wife anymore. The one I did have was laid off a while ago. Back when we were in the office more, we would often get lunch together, or otherwise converse about personal matters. She was my work wife for probably the past 10 years, and currently there are no prospects on me getting another. 6/12/2023 5:14:02 PM |

I'm sorry for your work divorce. You should buy a work sports car and bang some work whores before settling back down at work. 6/12/2023 5:18:48 PM |

I don’t have a work spouse yet, but only been here a week. I’m not homosexual either(not that there’s anything wrong with that), so far I have only interacted with same sex individuals.(not that there’s anything wrong with that) 6/12/2023 5:22:54 PM |

I did before we transitioned to working remotely. Now that I work from home, I'm with my actual wife all day anyway (and we work for the same company). 6/12/2023 6:15:46 PM |

For a while, during the height of the pandemic, my wife and I were both working from home.. so yeah, my actual wife was my work spouse. But we work for different companies/agencies. 6/12/2023 8:42:11 PM |

I guess I had a work mom before the pandemic. She has a different role now and a lot of us work from home these days. 6/12/2023 10:22:03 PM |

there's only 1 woman at my work, and she's only part-time
Really, I haven't worked with very many women. Everything I've ever done career-wise has been very male-dominated.

I don't do the taxes.
She earned more than me for a while, maybe three or four years. I don't know whether I caught up in terms of regular compensation. I tend to get bigger annual bonuses, but I don't know whether that has ever put me over. We do really different jobs in any case.
We've had a joint account since way back when we started living together. It's just our money. I don't even really like thinking about money in general.

^It's nice to see folks with joint bank accounts. I've never understood married couples that keep separate accounts, but hey, to each their own.
I've never really had a work spouse. When I worked in-office, the few women I worked around had pretty different jobs, and nobody took lunches, so no real opportunities to hang out. 6/13/2023 8:08:25 AM |

^^Fair. Seems very equitable. Thanks!
As for not thinking about money, I believe finances work best on autopilot anyway. Think about it once, set up and automate it, check in only periodically. 6/13/2023 8:41:55 AM |

I used to have a work wife. Now I'm almost entirely a remote employee and I don't. I hadn't really thought about the loss and how I feel about it until now. 6/14/2023 8:11:08 AM |

No, I don't. I'm bad at it. I always end up having sex with or, more recently, marrying them, which isn't really in the spirit of "work spouse."
Even if that weren't the case, the women in my job fall into one of two categories: old-timers who have been working there longer than I've been alive, or young ladies who will only be there for six months before they move on to something better.

We do both. We each make an equal contribution to the joint for basic expenses and shared activities, then keep the rest in our old checking accounts. That way I'm not drawing from the joint fund for purely personal indulgences, like after work drinks or video games or other things that she doesn't really participate in.6/14/2023 10:03:17 AM |

^^ both.
But not with a work wife.
I also had largely separate finances from my wife, and we both wanted it that way. We did both contribute to a small joint account…I think we did something like $1500/month each for mortgage/bills/groceries/etc. There was never more than a few thousand in there. 6/14/2023 8:09:43 PM |
