you just named the best

like all around taste and value

This new joint, Taco Bamba, opened up next to Whole Foods on Wade and does this whole "dirty taco" thing.

https://www.tacobamba.com/location/raleigh-nc/

OG Food Truck Gym Tacos renovated the old BK on Hillsorough St and has a brick and mortar location there now. It can get fucking lit in there, tho. Meredith/NC State/and a ton of construction peeps.

They have a salsa bar and that's a plus, but it's pretty similar to Toro but prolly a lil more expensive.

https://gymtacosnc.com/

Despite feeling a little fast-foodie in atmosphere, nobody would bat an eye at either place if you just hung out and drank, too.

Gym Tacos is awesome, but I don't think their tacos specifically are super good. Their quesadilla bangs though.

Not exactly in Raleigh, but in the area (and much closer to my house) Taqueria La Pasadita is fantastic. Just a tiny little shop attached to a gas station at exit 319 on 40 (right by redneck bbq lab). Fresh handmade tortillas always will make a big difference in quality

Gym Taco (I usually do the food truck, and usually do the burritos. They're the best)

It's 3 miles from downtown Raleigh. Not like we're talking about somewhere north of 540.

I refer to north Raleigh as "upstate" and I certainly don't go upstate.

Have y'all been to Mariscos Nayarit #2 in Garner? It's near El Toro. Great Mexican seafood place.

"#2" is an unfortunate name for a Mexican Restaurant

Going to Durham somehow feels easier to me on my side of town than remotely treading anywhere near Midtown or North Raleigh.

My buddy says, "If you're going to Wake Forest, you might as well be in Virginia."

It used to annoy me at first, because it was a VERY CLEVER realtor trick designed to separate their geographic region from "the poors." But damn if the city didn't keep sprawling and make it happen.

i am fortunate to own since 2017

but the rent is too damn high

we got kids trying to come to school at a land-grant university and rent is killing them... we've had to create even more financial aid ways to get to rent

Don't fall for their tricks. Midtown IS North Raleigh. Nothing geographically changed. You don't have to parrot whatever Kane Realty spouts out.

And going up to Wake Forest wouldn't be so painful except you have to go up Capital Blvd; what a miserable road.

We bought over by Centennial Campus and Tryon Road. I have no interest whatsoever in going upstate.

I have to go over near Crabtree for something tomorrow and I'm dreading it.

Leroy's out in Boxyard RTP is a current favorite. They use Lawrence's brisket in their birria and it's fuckin' awesome imho.
