allow premiums to post stuff to the front page without being edited first....i've submitted 5 or so stories and for some reason, NONE of them are posted (i'd recommend that the current editors be able to delete stories after they're posted, to keep obvious shit off the page)
either that, or make all premies editors...something....i dunno 10/9/2002 1:46:53 AM |

Hold on Brian...Just be patient. I'm posting your story, but it takes time for one of us to get it and look over it and make a judgement call perhaps with another editor. We can't post every story that's submitted, mostly because a lot of them aren't relevant to a majority of our users. I will post hockey stories, when they are relevant, such as this one and post-season ones. 10/9/2002 2:06:36 AM |

well i wasn't just saying that for this story...i figured someone would post this specific one at some point.
my point is, many of the editors aren't premies, they're just friends of jake, which is ok since it's his site...but don't you think that having the perk of posting anything to the front page would entice at least a couple people to sign up to be premies? 10/9/2002 2:11:22 AM |

No not really, it would be abused end of debate. The original corps of editors were those Jake could trust not to abuse their priviledges, people he knew well, and others have been added since then.
There's general discourse on what should actually go on the front page. My attitude is that rought half of what is submitted doesn't belong to be on the front page. I would love to see the stories on the front cycle more and get more so-called editorials on the front, however I think they should be stories or posts that are relevant to the userbase/school. Stories that have one line and a weblink will not be posted Simply this just doesn't look good and most of us don't really have the time to write a story to a weblink we know nothing about.
Note to everybody SUBMIT more!!! We love to see stories submitted, and if yours doesn't get posted, talk to an editor (not jake or joe, they get too much crap from everybody else) to get either their viewpoint on why the story wasn't posted, or give them an argument to post it and see if you can work on making it better. 10/9/2002 2:23:19 AM |

I realize that, which is why I put in my original post:

I'm not necessarily trying to get a change in the system, just trying to think of ways to encourage more premium sign-ups...that's all.10/9/2002 2:30:54 AM |
