This could cause chaos however:

If you create a topic, wouldnt it be nice if you could either remove or edit the replies ?

Scenario #1:

You post a topic, some dumbass posts a picture of a goat.
You remove his post.

Scenario #2:

You post a topic, some dumbass posts a picture of a goat.
You rate the post as OffTopic and its hidden unless the user choses to see the offtopic posts

-------------

You guys like that idea ?

It's would be abused in the classifieds. I like knowing that I'm getting honest feedback about items for sale, not just the posts the seller wants me to see.

I guess the classifieds would be an exception to the rule

This argument has been put forth before.

In the end, topic moderation by anyone other than the site moderators leads to confusion and censorship caused by people who should not have that particular power.

Once you create a topic, you let go of that ownership. That is the nature of this messageboard beast.

No, I don't think it's cool when I have to see the same oversized peanut butter picture in every other thread, but it also get tiring to see the same threads (mostly sex/relationship or religion topics) posted over and over as well.

But if you want to be on TWW, it's just the way things have got to be. Lord knows most of these kids aren't looking to be creative or to own up to personal responsibility, or even remotely care about others.

And to conclude...

^Perfect! HAHA. But no, terrible idea. (no offense.) People would abuse the hell out of it.

yeah, but if any moderator abused it, people might just stop reading any topics owned by him

or caring about his topics
