course :MAE 550
course rating :2 - Average
course comments :Very difficult course. Similar in concept to MAE 355, but very different in application. Formulation and use of the mass, momentum, and energy conservation laws, but applications to problems that are very new to you. Lots of emphasis on boundary conditions. Also a unit on dimensional analysis (discover where the Reynolds Number came from).

class comments :One homework assignment every week of about 4-6 problems. Get started early, as you'll find that you have absolutely no idea how to solve these problems. What you went over in class seems to have no connection to what you're doing for homework (the connection is there, but Hassan doesn't seem to try very hard to make sure you understand it). The book is vital to performing well in the class. 2 tests + 1 final. Each test seemed to take about 2 hours, and the final took about 4 hours.

instructor comments :One hell of a smart guy, but he can't figure out why it is that every single person in his class can't do the homework. Homeworks were always returned promptly, but lots of students had issues with his grading. He's a hardass, but he might just turn out to be a good teacher when I think back on his class.
