First Friday Art Gallery Tour

submitted by angel02 on Friday, June 6 2008 at 4:35 AM

First Friday is a self guided tour of local art galleries, art studios, museums, retail shops, restaurants and alternative art venues hosted on the First Friday of every month, in downtown Raleigh.

The event is free and open to everyone. Participating restaurants offer discounts to First Friday attendees. Some galleries offer free cocktails and drinks. Live music is provided by local acts.

Get out and experience the culture and fun that downtown Raleigh has to offer. Visit the galleries. Listen to live music. Delight in divine culinary experiences and have a great time!

In addition to the regular offerings; this Friday, June 6 there is going to be a Scavenger Hunt with a $1,000 grand prize.

Visit the Go Downtown Raleigh Website for all of the information; including participating galleries and restaurants, maps, and info on the scavenger hunt.

This Scavenger Hunt actually looks pretty bad ass. You get three hours to run all around downtown and you have to use the provided clues to figure out the location of certain objects of art. You then take a picture of the object.

Teams are limited to 4 people & entry is $25 per team. I wish I had known about this earlier, it looks like a lot of fun.

yeh that scavenger hunt was hard as hell... even for those that have been doing first friday every month for the past 4-5 years. Its becoming an annual thing though which is pretty cool. and for those that have never done first friday it's awesome you should check it out one friday... what have ya got to lose, everything is free that night.
