Arun Gandhi to present peaceful alternative to war

Arun Gandhi is the grandson and student of the legendary Mahatma Gandhi, and president and founder of the Institute for Nonviolence. Mr. Gandhi will be addressing the NC State community with a peaceful alternative to war Thursday, October 4 at 7:00pm in Stweart Theatre.

Tickets are FREE for all NC State students, faculty, and staff, but you must obtain one from the Ticket Central on the second floor of Talley Student Center. Everyone is encouraged to come out and hear Mr. Gandhi and his internationally renowned message. There will be refreshments following Mr. Gandhi's speech in the Talley Center ballroom.

It would be interesting, but in the wake of the events of September 11th, I would just get pissed off at someone saying that we should just bend over and take it.

Oh Hell No! This sounds just like that crock event over at UNC a few weeks ago. You do NOT, I repeat do NOT get your ass attacked by terrorists and turn the other bloody cheek. They applauded this event at UNC. We can't let that happen here.

I believe the idea is freedom of speech, gentlemen. If you don't agree with Gandhi's views, then don't go. It's as simple as that.

I never said he shouldn't have free speech, taking that away would take away the very thing was attacked and the very thing we should fight for. I disagree with his opinion, and would get angry if I went. If anyone does go that disagrees, I encourage you to voice your opinion (you have free speech as well).

Ummm....well I dont think the families of the victims want a peaceful alternative to this terrorism situation. If we dont declare war on terrorism than Bin Laden will continue on his quest to kill Americans. If all you hippies support this peace than you are just as bad as the terrorists.

We were attacked, this isnt veitnam okay all you hippies out there. Were not fighting a country that didnt do shit to us. They killed our civilians, screwed up a city, and hurt a states economy. Response is the only answer. And protecting this man is the same as protecting a murder or rapist. Gandi's message has a place, but terrorists are people who disrupt peace. They are the ones he should preach too. He is preaching to the choir. However i believe in this quote "I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend, to the death, your right to say it." -Voltaire (some believe it was his biographer, but it sums up his views)
