RALLY- Tues Sept 17 12:30pm @ Belltower

submitted by Andrew Payne on Monday, September 16 2002 at 9:43 PM

RALLY: Tuesday September 17th 12:30pm @ the Belltower

After students successfully convinced the University Administration to reopen the Library 24 hours a day, students will build upon that momentum to let the NC General Assembly know that they are opposed to massive tuition increases and damaging budget cuts.

Although the Administration opposes such action- student leaders feel it is necessary to inform the public and the General Assembly about their displeasure with:

-8-12% increases in tuition
-Cuts to education
-Cuts to need based financial aid

The rally will begin at 12:30 pm at the NC State Belltower.

The library hours will be extended to 2pm on Sunday, the Chancellor made a public statement on this today! It should be back to 24 hours in October!

Thanks

Did the rally really occur? I had to run to Cameron village yesterday and didn't see much going on other than a small grouping (with the casket) at the bell tower. I hope it went off and made an impression. On the news this am, it said the library would return to 24 hour open status. Is that right? Good going.

maybe 500 dollars woul'ndt be so bad a YEAR but for those of us who are paying for college ourselves.. 500 a semester is taking the 500 that we would have used on books and school supplies...
