I dont know --they called the facilities superintendent for the CVM and asked if they could have it -- maybe thats the only place they could find to park the bus -- main campus cant afford to give up too many spaces, while the fenced-in large animal hospital parking lot is for horse trailers and stuff-- plenty of room for the bus there. 2/13/2003 9:33:32 PM |

Be sure to drink plenty of water that morning if you go -- so your blood will not be like molasses.

I don't see how one pint can save three lives as traumas routinely get 5 units before they even leave the E.D. 2/14/2003 2:49:55 PM |

I imagine the average transfusion is less than a pint. There's probably enough minor work done that skews the average away from the 5 pint trauma incidents.
I'm O+, if I wasn't in class from 10 to 3 pm, I'd be down there.

People who come into the ED with a low H&H get 2 units of blood. it takes a little more than one to bring a regular anemic up, but they get a little extra. 3 units for someone who is really low. so one unit can't even do up a routine transfusion. That's why every one who is able should donate. 2/14/2003 9:37:38 PM |

college life has it's extra curricular activities other than alcohol and cigarettes, does anyone know if recreational drugs totally rules one out for blood donations??? I am O- and was part of Rex Blood plan before travelling to southeast asia, where i got too close to WHO hazard areas. My travels have hindered me from donating, and i wish the recreation won't. 2/17/2003 3:33:48 AM |
