this doesn't make any sense to me...it's still going to be almost as bad at 12... I know it's supposed to get into the 40s, but there is just too much ice out there 2/17/2003 8:32:29 AM |

yeah my history prof just canceled my 1:30.. he seems to think it will still be too risky to drive. even if we do have class at 12 I think a lot of professors will cancel. 2/17/2003 8:37:21 AM |

Well, I live off campus...and considering that to get out of my apartment complex, I have to drive up a 25 degree banking on a half inch of ice, I don't think I'll be venturing anywhere today. 2/17/2003 9:03:03 AM |

NC State is ridiculous if they cancel classes for 2 inches of snow that is not on the road and have classes after noon with an inch of ice on the road...i just got back in from driving and its not terrible but it is definitely enough to cancel classes all day considering it isnt supposed to go higher then 30 today 2/17/2003 9:45:33 AM |

wral.com says 32 for the high today. Radiational heating on the tops of roads plus people driving on the roads is going to help them melt some. But I would go ahead and cancel for the day, this morning. It is going to be rough for people that have a hard time driving in this type of stuff. 2/17/2003 9:53:19 AM |

i doubt that conditions will be good enough by tomorrow to say that it's safe for people to go in tomorrow either, but somehow i get the feeling that they'll re-open anyway. i agree that it seems much more ridiculous to have cancelled for that snow that fell and had melted by the time classes would have started, but now there's ice everywhere and class is on (well, technically).
i guess that the university doesn't want to risk missing too many days. personally though i don't understand why universities have to follow make-up day rules at all for missing a certain number of days. i feel the same about attendance policies too. i rarely miss classes personally -- i just think that people who are responsible enough will keep up and not waste the thousands of dollars that they are spending on college. 2/17/2003 10:29:30 AM |

"conditions will be better after noon"
try telling that to people that'll be coming here for NIGHT classes...it amazes me that school isn't cancelled...
well, back to work for me... 2/17/2003 10:32:31 AM |

-I think Fox is trying to make up for that day she cancelled class for "no snow"-
But there is NO WAY I'm going to drive to campus today - there is way too much ice out there to try and get my car up the hill in my apt complex!! *Not to mention all the crazy drivers out there* 2/17/2003 10:55:00 AM |

I'm sick of them wasting my time with this happy horse shit. You know class is going to be cancelled all day, what's the point of this?
I got 12 e-mails from various faculty saying "IF class is cancelled do this, and IF it's the adverse weather policy do this, and IF class is held do this...." RIDICULOUS
they should have cancelled the entire day as soon as the sun went down last night.
did they really think it's going to melt overnight?

i'm just a little confused as to how Duke, unc, shaw, peace, meredith, central, etc are all cancelled all day....and yet we are only out til 12 with the "adverse weather policy" 2/17/2003 11:25:18 AM |

It'll be funny when we get the memo at like 12:30 saying we are cancelled for the day... I am not sure what the priority on emails are but I am at the bottom of the list becuase I ussually don't get them until after the fact. 2/17/2003 11:28:20 AM |

Apparently NCSU wants to have the highest accident/injury rate on students trying to make it to class today. 2/17/2003 11:29:34 AM |

this really is retarded. how can almost everyschool within 100miles of us be cancelled, yet we still have good enough conditions to go? i think the school needs to review their weather policy 2/17/2003 11:55:12 AM |

I just got back from my 12:55pm class over on Centennial I only went because we had lab right after class and my teacher really sucks and I guess expected everyone to be there well there were four of us there and instead she sent the TA and never showed up...
Avent Ferry, Gorman aren't too bad neither is the small part of Tryon and Trailwood that I drove on. I live in Melrose so I cut through Tryon instead on Thistledown or going all the way down Trailwood. Eitherway it is still pretty bad. I had to get a friend to drive me to class. You need ice skates to walk through my parking lot. 2/17/2003 3:34:03 PM |
